Leeds United and West Ham are poised to pounce for red-hot Irish striker Troy Parrott after his sensational goal explosion in Holland, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The former Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid has caught fire with AZ Alkmaar and his blistering scoring run has put a string of English sides on red alert ahead of the summer transfer window.

Parrott, 24, has become one of the hottest forwards in the Eredivisie this season, with Premier League scouts regularly travelling to the Netherlands to check on the Irish international’s progress.

Parrott only joined AZ from Tottenham in 2024 for around £6.7million after deciding he needed regular first-team football to kick-start his career following a string of loan spells in England.

The striker signed a five-year contract, meaning he still has three years remaining on his deal, and AZ are now in a strong position with clubs expected to have to pay around £15-17million to tempt the Dutch side into even comtemplating selling.

Parrott underlined his red-hot form recently when he helped fire AZ into the Dutch Cup final, netting his 25th club goal of a remarkable season.

Parrott’s form has already attracted interest from across England, with Sunderland linked with a January move for the striker, while Brentford and Coventry City have also been reported to be monitoring his progress in recent months.

IMPACT

But Parrott’s impact has stretched far beyond club football.

With five goals in two huge wins that powered the Republic of Ireland national team into the World Cup play-offs, it has been a dream rise on the international stage for the 33-cap striker and further proof he is emerging as Ireland’s main man up front.

Now Parrott is chasing another major milestone, playing in his first ever World Cup this summer.

Ireland face Czech Republic national football team in Prague on March 26 in a play-off semi-final. The winners will then meet either Denmark national football team or North Macedonia national football team in a final for a place at the tournament.

Parrott was once tipped as one of Ireland’s brightest young prospects after joining Spurs from Dublin club Belvedere as a teenager.

He made his senior debut in North London in 2019 amid huge hype, but first-team chances proved limited and he was sent out on loan to gain experience.

BREAKTHROUGH

Spells with Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons and Preston North End brought flashes of promise but never quite the breakthrough he craved.

So Parrott made the bold decision to head to Holland in search of regular football. The gamble has paid off spectacularly, especially with a potential World Cup on the horizon and the chance to potentially play in the Premier League next season.

But, despite the growing transfer frenzy, Parrott insists he is staying focused on the present.

“The future is the future… I just have to keep taking every game as it comes,” he stressed.

But with 30 goals this season, a cup final looming, Ireland’s World Cup dream alive and Premier League clubs circling, there’s no doubt Parrott’s stock has skyrocketed.
