Exeter City hitman Jayden Wareham is a wanted man afer his sensational run of form this season, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The Grecians’ starlet has grabbed an impressive 18 goals in all competitions so far this season as he has settled to life in Devon like a duck to water.

His flying form this term has seen Championship clubs circle and caught the attention of the likes of Swansea City and Portsmouth.

It is understood the Swans are lining up a potential raid as they prepare for life without Championship top scorer Žan Vipotnik, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

As revealed by SportsBoom last month, West Ham United and Sunderland are both keen on the Slovenian striker, who is currently topping the second tier scoring charts with 16 strikes, whilst there is also interest from Europe.

SportsBoom sources understand Pompey scouts have been monitoring Wareham’s progress in recent months and have been impressed by the Grecians’ young gun.

Top end League One clubs are also interested in the striker, who netted his first professional hat-trick against Peterborough United last month.

Bolton Wanderers and Wycombe Wanderers are also understood to be showing in interest in Exeter’s breakout star.

Wycombe have seen at close quarters what the rising talent can do, having scored to dump them out of the FA Cup and once in the league this term.

Sky's The Limit

Former boss Gary Caldwell, who left Exeter to return to Wigan Athletic earlier this season, reckons he is destined for a big future in the game.

He said: “I think Jayden Wareham is a top striker at this level and beyond. He's still in his early 20s, and not just his goals, how he plays the game, how he leads the line.”

Wareham penned a two-year deal when he joined the ranks at St James Park last summer, but the club hold an option of an extra year, which will no doubt be triggered.
