Newcastle Linked with Controversial Sunderland Raid for Chemsdine Talbi

As Sunderland's Chemsdine Talbi shines in the Premier League, clubs are lining up for a potential record-breaking transfer. Aston Villa and Newcastle United lead the chase, with Brighton also interested. Sunderland is willing to sell for the right price, with a valuation of €45m-€55m. Talbi's impressive stats make him a hot commodity, with a potential move likely to happen in the Summer 2026 window.

As the most aesthetic component of Sunderland’s Premier League resurgence, Chemsdine Talbi is poised to secure a record-breaking sale in the club’s history.

Gifted with "tactical freedom" within Régis Le Bris’s attacking system, Talbi has reached a level of potential that could ignite a fierce bidding war among England’s elite clubs in the Summer 2026 window.

Current Developments & Premier League Pursuit

While Sunderland’s board faced criticism for their record €20 million investment in the youngster, they are now reaping the rewards. Talbi’s composure under pressure, particularly in high-stakes fixtures, has been "red-circled" in the notebooks of top-tier Premier League scouts.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are currently the most attentive suitors. Within Unai Emery’s vision for a "high-tech wing rotation," Talbi is viewed as a perfect fit.

Simultaneously, Newcastle is expected to knock on Sunderland's door this summer to inject much-needed dynamism into their right flank.

While such a move would spark huge controversy given the fierce Tyne-Wear rivalry, Newcastle are bracing for the likely departure of star winger Anthony Gordon, with Manchester United preparing a £80m bid, and the Moroccan wide man would sit at the very top of Eddie Howe’s summer wish list.

Additionally, reports suggest Brighton scouts have been "frequenting" the Stadium of Light. The Seagulls reportedly see Talbi as a prime candidate for their "buy, develop, and sell for a massive profit" model.

Valuation and Club Stance

Sunderland is under no immediate pressure to sell, but the narrative could shift should an "undeniable" offer reach the table.

For domestic sales, Sunderland is expected to set an initial asking price in the €45m–€55m range. Their primary leverage remains Talbi’s long-term contract, which runs until June 2030.

The club’s recruitment of new wingers during the January window is widely interpreted as "future-proofing", preparing to fill the void Talbi would leave while pivoting the projected windfall toward strengthening the strike force and defense.

Data shows Talbi averaging 4.2 successful dribbles per match with an 82% pass completion rate, metrics considered "elite" for a modern winger.

While Napoli and RB Leipzig maintain interest, Talbi’s successful adaptation to the Premier League tempo makes staying in England the most probable outcome.

Internal leaks suggest Sunderland is ready to sanction a sale to generate funds for a wider squad overhaul. Sources describe Talbi as a "pure talent" whose ceiling belongs at the pinnacle of the Premier League.
