Mexican hitman Raul Jimenez is set to be rewarded with a new one-year deal after firing the goals that have helped keep Fulham smiling this season, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The 34-year-old striker has rolled back the years for the Cottagers, netting 11 goals in all competitions, including eight in the Premier League, to remind everyone why he was once one of the division’s most feared No.9s.
Our sources have learnt both Everton and West Ham United have been sniffing around the experienced centre-forward, but Fulham are hopeful they can keep him at Craven Cottage by tying him down to a new deal.
Thus far he has scored 27 goals in 90 Premier League games for Fulham and 30 across a total of 106 games for the club.
Jimenez joined the South West London club in the summer of 2023 from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a two-year deal worth around £5.5million as boss Marco Silva looked to add experience to his attacking options.
EXTENSION
That deal included an additional year extension, which was triggered at the end of last season.
Jimenez, who is now playing in his eighth season in the Premier League, has wasted no time in becoming an important figure in the Cottagers’ forward line, using his strength, intelligent movement and finishing ability to lead the attack.
The experienced frontman first made his name in Mexico with Club América before earning a move to Spanish giants Atlético Madrid in 2014.
After a season in Spain he moved to Portuguese heavyweights Benfica, where he won two league titles and established himself as one of Europe’s most effective forwards.
Jimenez arrived in England in 2018 when Wolves signed him initially on loan before completing a permanent £30m deal the following year.
During his time at Molineux he scored 57 goals in 166 appearances and became one of the Premier League’s most reliable strikers.
In other news, Fulham are also looking to extend Harry Wilson’s stay at Craven Cottage as the 28-year-old enjoys arguably the best season of his career. With Brentford, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace all having expressed interest, the Welsh winger’s performances have clearly caught the eye across the Premier League, prompting the Cottagers to move quickly to secure their star forward.
COLLISION
His momentum was cruelly halted in November 2020 when he suffered a fractured skull following a collision with David Luiz during a match against Arsenal.
But after a long recovery, Jimenez has rebuilt his career and this season has shown he can still deliver at the highest level for the Cottagers.
The striker, a regular for the Mexico national side, is expected to be part of his country’s plans for this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
Our sources also understand the forward is keen to play another season in the Premier League, and Fulham want to make sure his story continues at Craven Cottage.
Talks are expected before the end of the season over a one-year extension with Jimenez confident he has plenty of goals left in him.
