Exclusive: Everton And West Ham Set to Renew Interest in Sheffield United Shot-Stopper Michael Cooper When January Transfer Window Opens

Everton and West Ham are set to renew their interest in sought-after Sheffield United shot-stopper Michael Cooper when the January transfer window opens, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Our sources have learnt that both Premier League clubs are still keen to sign the talented 25-year-old keeper.

Cooper starred last season for the Blades as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League with defeat to Sunderland in the Championship Play-off final at Wembley.

But following that loss former manager Chris Wilder lost his job in the summer and his replacement Ruben Selles has had a nightmare start to his Bramall Lane reign.

The Blades, early-season promotion favourites, are rooted to the foot of the table after four successive defeats.

Cooper has already leaked seven goals and, like his teammates, is frustrated with the South Yorkshire club’s dismal start to the new campaign.
Everton and West Ham both made initial enquiries about trying to sign Cooper before the summer transfer window shut, but the Blades rebuffed any offers for their number one.

The Toffees are understood to have opened talks with England ace Jordan Pickford over a contract extension that will be keep him at the club the for the remainder of his career.

EYE ON THE FUTURE

But the Merseyside club also have an eye on the future and Toffees’ boss David Moyes is believed to have earmarked Cooper a star for the future.

Moyes is known for signing young players, with England defender John Stones and Jamaica international Mason Holgate just two of the young players he signed who have gone on to impress in the Premier League throughout their careers.

The Hammers, meanwhile, re-signed veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski yesterday on a one-year deal as much-needed cover.

The experienced Poland international spent seven seasons with the East London outfit and won the Europa Conference League trophy with the club in 2023.

However, the Hammers are also looking to the future and boss Graham Potter has also had Cooper watched in the Championship and has been impressed with what he’s seen.
