Former Newport County defender Kyle Jameson has attracted the interest of Scottish Championship side Dunfermline and League Two club Fleetwood Town, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The experienced 26-year-old centre-back suffered a grade two calf tear in March but still managed to play 29 games for the Exiles last season.
Jameson returned for the end of the season after nearly two months on the sidelines recovering from his injury.
But the Welsh outfit released him earlier this season following the expiry of his two-year contract.
And the former West Brom academy graduate has been training hard with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) training squad ever since with a view to putting himself in the shop window and earning a new deal at a new club.
Jameson played 42 league games for Newport across his two years with the club and has made 153 career appearances.
He has also previously played for Barrow, AFC Fylde, Oldham Athletic and Tranmere Rovers during his career.
But he has not played a competition league match since starting for Newport in a 4-1 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers back on 3rd May this year.
PERMANENT DEAL
A move to Scotland is something Jameson would welcome, and our sources have learnt the defender is just hungry to get back playing competitively after over three months in the wilderness.
Jameson was one of ten players released by the Exiles at the end of last season following a disappointing 22nd place finish in League Two.
Scottish side Livingston have previously been linked with the player, but as yet the free agent is still waiting to find a new club.
Ironically, Jameson played against his former club last week when the PFA team of free agents took on the Exiles in a closed-doors friendly at Rodney Parade.
Former Manchester United and West Ham striker Ravel Morrison, ex-Swansea City hitman Fabio Borini and former Ipswich Town, Sunderland and Crystal Palace marksman Connor Wickham, were also part of the PFA squad.
