Sheffield Wednesday are considering offers for promising striker Bailey Cadamarteri from Championship clubs like Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Ipswich Town, and Wrexham. Sheffield Wednesday are considering a number of offers for Bailey Cadamarteri, SportsBoom understands, with the striker expected to leave on transfer deadline day.
The bids are all believed to come from Championship clubs, with Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City, Ipswich Town and Wrexham among those known to be monitoring the youngster’s situation at Hillsborough.
Although new Owls boss Henrik Pedersen would prefer to keep Cadamarteri as he looks to plot a course through one of the most difficult period in the Yorkshire outfit’s recent history, the financial issues which are wreaking havoc off-the-pitch could ultimately dictate decision-making on it and force the striker’s departure.
Aged 20, Cadamarteri is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents at Pedersen’s disposal having made his professional debut three years ago.
Born in Leeds and the son of former Everton, Sheffield United and Bradford City centre-forward Danny, he now represents Jamaica at international level having previously been capped by England under-20’s.
ROVERS REBUFFED
Rovers had been leading the chase for Cadamarteri earlier this month and are thought to have already been rebuffed by Wednesday owner Dejphon Chanisiri after making an approach last week.
However, that will not dissuade the likes of big-spending Wrexham from following suit if Phil Parkinson, their manager, decides to try and plunder The Owls for a second time having already lured Josh Windass to North Wales.
Cadamarteri netted his first goal of the present campaign during Wednesday’s recent draw at STok Racecourse, as Pedersen’s men came from 2-0 down to snatch a point.
He impressed on loan at Lincoln City last term, after being sent there by Pedersen’s predecessor Danny Rohl to fine-tune his talents before returning to The Owls.
Cadamarteri is under contract at Wednesday until 2028. But with wages being paid late on a number of occasions and the EFL stepping in when debts to other members were not paid, Pedersen accepts that some of his most valuable assets could be sold in order to help shore-up the budget.
