Charlton Athletic aims to secure Tyreece Campbell's future with a new contract extension as he continues to impress on and off the field. The 22-year-old winger, a product of the Addicks academy, had a successful season, helping the club secure promotion to the Championship under Nathan Jones. Charlton Athletic want to secure Tyreece Campbell’s future with the club with a new contract extension, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Campbell is an academy product of the Addicks and during his younger years was a ballboy at the club dreaming of playing in the first team.

Now he has realised those dreams and more and was part of the club’s dramatic promotion to the Championship under Nathan Jones last season.

Campbell is contracted to the Addicks until the end of the season, with the club having an option for an extra year to take him through to next summer.

But our sources have been told Jones and co want to tie down one of the most promising prospects in the EFL with a new long-term deal with talks expected to commence in the coming weeks.

Charlton want to ward off potential suitors and ensure they do not lose one of their key players for free when he does eventually move on.

Campbell said: “The manager [Nathan Jones] has helped me a lot to play my game and be free. It really helps having a manager who trusts you because it allows me to play to the best of my ability.”

“It’s about playing well in the Championship and getting those personal goals I want to achieve as well.”

On The Rise

Campbell enjoyed his most prolific season to date as he helped fire the Addicks back to the Championship for the first time since they were immediately relegated in the 2019/2020 season.

The 22-year-old winger scored nine goals in all competitions as Jones led the club back to the second tier via the play-offs.

And he has impressed during his first taste of Championship football, starting every game as Charlton have established themselves in mid-table.

His flying form last season saw him earn his first Jamaica call-up and he is on international duty with the Reggae Boyz again this fortnight.
