Stockport County, Huddersfield and Luton are all interested in signing Wolves’ prospect Dexter Lembikisa on a season-long loan deal, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Wolves are happy for the highly-rated 21-year-old Jamaica international right-back to go out loan this season to get some more first-team experience under his belt.
Last season the academy graduate enjoyed a short loan spell with League One Barnsley, playing 12 games for the Tykes and impressing in South Yorkshire.
Lembikisa, already capped 29 times by his country, has also had loan spells with Rotherham United, Hearts and Swiss outfit Yverdon-Sport.
Our sources have learnt Wolves believe they have a real talent for the future and are keen to get him as much football as possible before a potential chance at a higher level.
Lembikisa joined Wolves when he was 13 and worked his way through the club’s academy system before signing his professional deal after impressing in the reserves.
He has played one Premier League for Wolves and enjoyed 25 games for Rotherham when they, respectively, played in the Championship.
DESIRE FOR A DEAL
Now both the Hatters and Terriers are keen to see if they do a deal, whether that be before the transfer window shuts or at some stage this month.
County are keen to get a deal done quickly to intergrate Lembikisa into their squad, but the Terriers and Hatters are also working hard to see if they can win the loan race to sign the defender.
Last month Lembikisa was on trial at Championship side Charlton Athletic, but despite doing well any potential deal never progressed.
It was believed the Addicks might still be interested in signing the full-back, but a move to a League One club is now looking more likely unless there is any late interest in the defender.
Lembikisa is a regular in the Jamaican national team and represented his country at last summer’s Copa America and has also played in the CONCACAF Nations League for his country.
