Salford City have not tabled an offer for Wrexham’s Ollie Palmer despite reports, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The towering striker is on his way out of Wrexham this summer after being told he is not in Phil Parkinson’s first team plans this season.

And that has alerted a number of lower league clubs to the 33-year-old’s availability.

A proven goalscorer in the lower leagues, the Ammies were one of five clubs who had reportedly offered the experienced hitman a deal.

But sources close to the club have denied a formal offer has been made for the former Lincoln City, Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon forward.

It is understood that Salford boss Karl Robinson wants to bolster his attacking options with the possibility of a couple of incomings before the transfer window shuts.

Palmer’s only appearance for Wrexham this term came when he rescued the Dragons with two dramatic stoppage-time goals in their EFL Cup first round victory against Hull City.

Swindon Town have been heavily linked with making a move for the striker, who was part of Wrexham’s historic hat-trick of successive promotions to return to the Championship.

Ian Holloway is desperate to bring a striker in at the County Ground after the injury of Harry Smith with a trio of Palmer, Joe Ironside and Jayden Stockley top of his wish list.

Crawley Town are being touted with making an offer for the marksman to return to Sussex, whilst Bristol Rovers also mentioned.

Links with Sheffield Wednesday are ambitious, given the club’s inability to pay a fee for a player due to the ongoing ownership crisis at the club.

Speaking earlier in the window, Wrexham chief Parkinson said: “I had a good chat with Ollie Palmer. He needs to go and play, he knows that.”

“Ollie has ben brilliant for us, a great servant. Of course he wants to stay and be a part of it. I have always said to him I’ve got so much respect for what you’ve done in terms of as a player.”
