Bournemouth are ready to table a bid to sign ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Spain international left-back Sergio Reguilon as a free agent, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

But our sources have learnt Everton are open to trying to do a deal on transfer deadline day for the former UEFA Europa League winner.

Reguilon has been looking for a new club ever since being released by Spurs at the end of his last contract in June.

However, the former Real Madrid defender has had to wait patiently for his next club.

Our sources have learnt there has been interest in signing for the former Spain international from a couple of clubs in his native country.

EUROPEAN INTEREST

And there has also been interest from Italy, but none of the discussions with the respective clubs amounted to anything.

That has left the experienced 28-year-old full-back waiting until deadline day to secure a deal.

Though, as a free agent, Reguilon could still sign for a club after the current summer window shuts today, which gives him more options to try and kickstart his career.

If a deal is to be completed after today's deadline day, the spaniard will have to be more strategic with his move, as unless there is space on a club's registered squad he may have to wait until the next registration period to play for the club.

He originally signed for Spurs for a reported £27.5million in August 2020, but dropped down the pecking order after two decent seasons for the club between 2020-2022.

Reguilon made 52 Premier League appearances during that time, but in his third season just four in the top-flight as his Spurs’ career fizzled out.

After returning to Spain to join Atletico Madrid on loan, the defender also two loans spells with Manchester United and Brentford in the Premier League.

But the six-cap international has yet to play this season and has been chasing a new club for new months since his previous five-year deal was allowed to run out.

And now the Cherries, who have sold a string of top defenders this summer, are interested in tempting Reguilon, who also won the UEFA Europa League with former club Sevilla, into joining them at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries sold star left-back Milos Kerkez to Premier League champions Liverpool for £40million and have also allowed Illia Zabarnyi join last season’s Champions League winner Paris St-Germain in a £57million deal, as well as Dean Huijsen to Spanish giants Real Madrid for a £50million transfer.

However, the Cherries are expected to face stiff competition from the Toffees, who are also in the market for a new left-back, ideally before the window shuts.
