Ravel Morrison is considering a surprise move to League Two to ignite his faltering career, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The former Manchester United ace, now 32, has been part of the PFA’s training camps to keep himself fit this summer.
It is understood Morrison’s representatives have been in talks with a number of Championship clubs, including bosses at former club Derby County, but a move has failed to come to fruition.
And our sources have been told the former West Ham midfielder is now ready to prove himself at a lower level in order to get back on the pitch.
Morrison came through the United academy and played alongside the likes of Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba.
Capped at England age group level through to U21, before going on to represent Jamaica, Morrison’s bad boy image precedes him.
He has played for 14 clubs in as many years and has struggled to stay anywhere longterm.
Changed Man
And after a spell in Dubai at Precision FC, Morrison, who still plays for the Jamaican national side, is desperate to return home.
Speaking earlier in the summer, Morrison said: “I do believe I can play in the Championship, easy. The frustrating thing is I'm not getting the opportunity.”
“My agent has spoken to a lot of sporting directors, chief scouts and heads of recruitment, and we've got really close to an agreement.”
“Then they get the manager's opinion and it becomes, "Ah, but he's done this, he's done that", and they are speaking about things that happened when I was a kid.”
“Time has moved on, it's over a decade ago. But it's crazy sometimes how people don't move on. I'm 32 now. I've played football around the world and had a good career. I'm not a kid of 16 or 17 anymore.”
