Fulham are close to offering star forward Harry Wilson a new deal amidst growing interest from three Premier League rivals, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Brentford, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are all understood to have made enquiries about the 28-year-old's services, with the player, arguably, enjoying the best season of his career.
Wales international Wilson is out of contract in the summer with growing interest in his signature.
And our sources have learnt that’s why the Cottagers are going to try everything in their power to persuade Wilson to stay at the club.
Wilson has impressed with seven goals in the Premier League this season for Marco Silva’s side, who are sitting pretty in ninth position in the standings.
And he famously bagged a fine hat-trick against North Macedonia to help Wales secure automatic qualification for this year’s World Cup.
Initial talks between Wilson and West London club took place in June, but those negotiations have stalled in recent months, with the player privately frustrated a new deal has not been sorted.
Late last year, Fulham also quietly drew up a worst-case-scenario managerial shortlist amid speculation linking Marco Silva with a move away from Craven Cottage, with Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag and Kjetil Knutsen among the names considered.
VISION FOR SUCCESS
But SportsBoom has learnt Wilson would like to stay at the club and has bought into Silva’s vision for success.
The Cottagers stunned West London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday with a fine 2-1 home win, with Wilson bagging a superb 81st minute winner at Craven Cottage.
It is now just Wilson’s goals which have delighted Silva and Fulham fans, it’s the former Liverpool playmaker’s assists.
He has weighed in with four important ones this season with Fulham, respectively, punching above their weight in the top-flight this campaign.
Leeds United tried to sign Wilson on transfer deadline day but the Wrexham-born winger stayed, and he’s reaped the rewards ever since having become a mainstay of Silva’s ambitious side.
Capped 67 times by his country, Wilson is relishing the chance to try and impress at this summer’s World Cup, but he is believed to want to get his club deal sorted before he leaves for America.
