Carlos Corberan is considering leaving Valencia for West Brom as they fight relegation. The Spaniard previously impressed at West Brom. Now, he could be back in the Midlands to help the struggling Baggies avoid the drop again.

Carlos Corberan is being lined up to swap one relegation battle in Spain for another in the West Midlands, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
While not bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Eric Ramsay, sacked after just nine games and 44 days with the Baggies, Corberan has a groundswell of popular opinion at the Hawthorns.
Normally, the 42-year-old Spaniard wouldn’t consider leaving fallen La Liga giants, Valencia, his home town club, for a SkyBet Championship return.
But Los Che could make the decision for him. Valencia, like the Baggies, are embroiled in a fight to beat the drop.
They are only two points and two places from the drop zone having lost four of their last five games in all competitions.
West Brom pulled the plug on former Manchester United coach and Minnesota United manager, Ramsay, with Albion a solitary place and point from the bottom three.
Baggies' legend James Morrison has been put in temporary charge and fancied by some to get the gig on a permanent basis.
Ex-Southampton and Rangers chief Russell Martin is also attracting punters’ money in the race to succeed Ramsay. Another former Saints manager Will Still has also been linked with the vacant role.
Repeat Relegation Trick
However, it has not been forgotten at Albion that Corberan, a one-time protege of ex Leeds chief, Marcelo Bielsa, pulled off a great escape after joining them in October 2022.
He did so with the Throstles second bottom of the Championship table after 16 games.
But he won 10 of his next 13 matches and guided Albion to ninth place, missing the play-offs on the final day of the season after a 3-2 defeat by Swansea.
Corberan was contracted until 2027 but departed for an emotional return to Valencia in December 2024. The seven time La Liga champions finished 12th in his first season but have failed to kick on this campaign.
Additionally, Corberan turned Huddersfield from almost relegation certainties to unlikely promotion hopefuls before things turned sour in West Yorkshire.
