Leeds United are weighing up a bold move to try and prize hotshot striker Brandon Thomas-Asante away from Coventry City when the transfer window re-opens, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The 26-year-old hitman has already bagged ten goals in 14 games this season and chipped in with three assists to help the Sky Blues fly to the top of the Championship after a fine start to the season, thriving under boss Frank Lampard.
He has scored eight goals in his last eight league games and has dazzled after a slow start for the club last term when he scored just four goals in 36 league outings.
The former West Brom marksman’s impressive goalscoring exploits have not got unnoticed, with our sources having learnt that Whites are ready to table a sizeable offer in an attempt to secure his services.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke is desperate to bolster his firepower with the club averaging less than a goal in their return to the top-flight.
Leeds are also looking to renew their interest in Sheffield United midfielder Gus Hamer in January, believing they could land him for a reduced fee due to the South Yorkshire club’s dreadful start to their Championship campaign.
GOALSCORING PROBLEMS
The Whites have scored nine goals in ten league games so far and are hovering tentatively in 16th place in the division, just four points about the relegation zone after five losses so far.
Midfielder Noah Okafor is their joint top-scorer this season with just two goals, while defender Joe Rodon has also bagged a brace.
But more worryingly new signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored just one in seven league outings, while none of the club’s forward line has found the target yet in the Premier League this term.
German coach Farke knows that frustrating trend cannot continue and has identified Thomas-Asante as the man to come in and start finding the back of the net.
The striker started his career with MK Dons before playing over 100 games for Salford City.
The Baggies saw his class and signed him on a three-year deal in August 2022, before Coventry pounced to sign him in August last year on a four-year deal.
