Exclusive: Odysseas Vlachodimos Wants Sevilla Stay as Spanish Side Plot Permanent Move from Newcastle
Seville are keen to sign goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos permanently after his impressive loan spell from Newcastle United. The Greek international's standout performances have attracted interest from other La Liga teams. Newcastle's asking price may hinder a cut-price deal, but Vlachodimos is eager to stay in Spain.

Sevilla are eager to sign keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos permanently, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Newcastle United stopper has impressed during his spell on loan at the La Liga outfit.
Greek international Vlachodimos signed for the Magpies for £20million, a Newcastle club record for a goalkeeper, in July 2024.
And our sources have been told the Spanish side want to keep their new number one after a string of fine performances.
Our sources also understand there are a number of other La Liga outfits interested in the 31-year-old stopper after his standout showings this season.
He secured back-to-back player-of-the-match awards earlier this month, with the second of those when he made 17 saves, including from a Robert Lewandowski penalty, during a 4-1 victory over Barcelona.
But a permanent move could be scuppered by Newcastle’s asking price for the keeper due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Newcastle would want to recoup almost all of their outlay, with Seville desperate to land a cut price deal for the keeper.
Our sources have been told that Vlachodimos wants the move after quickly settling to life in Spain.
Poor Move All Round
Vlachodimos’ move from Nottingham Forest to St James’ Park was part of the deal for Elliott Anderson to move in the opposite direction, which helped both clubs comply PSR regulations.
That was highlighted by a lack of minutes under Eddie Howe, with the stopper making just one appearance as a substitute.
Born in Stuttgart, Vlachodimos moved to Panathinaikos and made his breakthrough at the club.
He signed a five-year deal at Benfica in 2018 and went on to win two Portuguese league titles.
After making over 150 appearances for the club, he moved to Forest in 2023 where he played just five times in the Premier League despite a clean sheet on debut before a switch to Newcastle a year later.
