Isac Lidberg is on the radar in Britain after his prolific start to the season, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Swedish striker, 27, is the top scorer in Bundesliga 2 having netted seven goals to fire SV Darmstadt 98 to the top of the table.
Lidberg’s impressive start to the campaign has not gone unnoticed on these shores.
Our sources have been told Burnley, Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are among a number of clubs monitoring the in-form hitman after his fast start to the season.
The German club rejected a €2.5million bid from Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC in the summer.
But it is understood they would not stand in the player’s way if a big move came his way.
Our sources have been told a number of clubs from the UK will be sending scouts to Germany to watch the striker at close quarters in the coming weeks.
And it is understood that the player would like to follow in the footsteps of the great Swedish strikers, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Larsson and Victor Gyokeres, who have made the move to Britain.
A towering striker, Lidberg has been a regular goal getter during his career and at 27 still has a number of good years ahead of him.
Prolific Youngster
The one-time Swedish international was a hotshot at age group level for the national team with seven goals in 14 games for the U17s and ten in 17 for the U19s.
His most prolific spell at club level came in the Swedish third tier when he bagged 22 goals in 37 games, with 19 of those goals coming in 25 appearances in his first season.
Securing Darmstadt promotion, to only their sixth season in the Bundesliga, would see Lidberg’s stock dramatically rise.
