Exclusive: Patson Daka to be axed by Leicester
Leicester City's Patson Daka is set to leave the club next summer after failing to impress since his £23million move in 2021. The striker is expected to move abroad due to lack of interest in Europe. Daka hopes to revive his career after a disappointing spell at Leicester following success at Red Bull Salzburg.

Patson Daka is facing the Leicester City exit door, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Zambian international penned a five-year contract with the Foxes in 2021 for a reported fee of £23million.
Daka was free to leave the Midlands in the summer after the club’s relegation to the Championship, but the Foxes failed to find a buyer for the underwhelming striker.
And our sources have been told Leicester will not offer the player a contract extension and he will leave the club for free next summer as they look to slash his hefty wages off the books.
Our sources understand there are a number of clubs willing to offer the 26-year-old the opportunity to resurrect his career abroad.
Outfits in the Middle East, in the Saudi Pro League and Qatar Stars League, are open to the prospect of signing the striker.
It is understood he would have to take a pay cut to remain in Europe after a poor couple of years.
Once labelled as the “real deal” by club legend Gary Lineker, Daka has proved to be an expensive flop at the King Power.
And Daka is desperate for a fresh start so he can rediscover the form he showed earlier in his career which earned him a dream move to the Premier League.
Career Stalled
A top talent on home soil as a youngster, winning the Zambia Super League Young Player of the Year in 2014 and 2016, Daka made his international debut for Zambia aged just 16.
Daka was part of the Zambia side which won the African U20 Cup of Nations in 2017 and was crowned Best Player.
He spent time on trial at French club Lille and eventually moved to Red Bull Salzburg’s reserve team FC Liefering.
Daka signed for Salzburg in 2017 and scored 54 goals in 82 games as he helped the club to four Austrian Bundesliga titles and three Austrian Cups.
His best year at Leicester was his first season when he bagged six goals in 10 Europa League games.
But he has struggled in recent years, with just one goal in 23 Premier League appearances last term and goalless in six outings off the bench in the Championship so far this season.
