Aaron Drinan is gaining interest from a number of League One clubs, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Swindon Town striker has started the season with a bang for the Robins, bagging six goals as Ian Holloway’s free-scorers have flown to the top of League Two.
Goal machine Drinan is in the middle of a purple patch and has scored in four straight games for Town.
And our sources have been told clubs in the third tier are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old marksman ahead of a potential move when the transfer window reopens in January.
The likes of AFC Wimbledon, Barnsley, Exeter City and Lincoln City have the Irishman on their radar after his impressive start to the season.
Swindon on the up
Holloway’s aims for the season have been clear, Swindon want promotion.
And it is unlikely the club would be willing to sell the striker this season, despite the addition of Ollie Palmer from Championship Wrexham.
Drinan signed a two-year contract extension at the club this summer to keep him in Wiltshire until 2027.
At the time, he said: “I'm really pleased to be extending my stay at Swindon. I've enjoyed every minute here, and I believe we're building something special.”
“From the dressing room to the fans, everything about this club feels right to me. I’m really pleased to get the deal done.”
“I’m happy he’s [Holloway] shown faith in me.”
Drinan, capped at Republic of Ireland U19 level, moved to England in 2018 when he signed for Ipswich Town for a fee reportedly in the region of £90,000.
He enjoyed a loan spell back to Waterford in 2019 where he scored seven times in 18 games.
Drinan joined Leyton Orient in 2021 and scored 16 goals in his first season at the club and was part of the side which got promoted to League One the following campaign before his Swindon switch in February 2024.
