Sheffield United are mulling over the possibility of tabling an offer to sign Harry Gray, one of Leeds’ most promising young players, on loan this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The teenager, who was placed with The Blades’ neighbours Rotherham during the January transfer window, is regarded by some insiders at Elland Road as a full international of the future having already been awarded under-15, under-16 and under-17 level caps by England.
And the respect he commands within footballing circles, combined with his impressive performances at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, have prompted Bramall Lane’s recruitment department to begin exploring the feasibility of arranging a deal for the 2026/27 Championship campaign.
Although Leeds manager Daniel Farke is convinced Gray, whose brother Archie represents Tottenham Hotspur, will eventually force his way into his starting eleven, the German does not view him as a regular Premier League starter just yet.
Having netted twice in only five appearances for The Millers, that means Farke would prefer to place him with a second tier club once Gray’s temporary agreement there expires.

The presence of so many former Leeds stars in Chris Wilder’s squad, including Patrick Bamford, Joe Rothwell and potentially Kalvin Phillips if United can negotiate his exit from Manchester City, means those tasked with overseeing the forward’s development know he would be well looked after there.
Likewise, they are aware that The Blades are likely to completely remodel the options at Wilder’s disposal when the present campaign draws to a close, with the futures of Gustavo Hamer, Danny Ings and Tyrese Campbell all shrouded in doubt.
Although Wilder is also understood to be keeping tabs on Coventry City’s Ellis Simms, he has a track record of rotating his attacking options meaning Gray would be almost guaranteed minutes, providing he lives up to expectations of course, under him.
Gray was aged 14 when he first began representing Leeds’ under-18s and has already made his senior debut under Farke.
He claimed his first strike for Rotherham during a win over fellow strugglers Northampton Town but a switch to The Blades would expose him to a different pressure and challenge as they are expected to push for promotion under Wilder.
