Exclusive: Tottenham Ready to Test Nottingham Forest’s Resolve Over Morgan Gibbs-White
Tottenham Hotspur is set to revive their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White, with chaos at Nottingham Forest prompting uncertainty for the England international. The club may try to lure him with a big money offer amid speculation of a release clause. Spurs are monitoring the situation closely.

Tottenham Hotspur will resurrect their interest in Morgan Gibbs-White this summer as they look to exploit the chaos which has engulfed Nottingham Forest this term, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The England international appeared destined to join the Londoners last year before Evangelos Marinakis, Forest’s notoriously combustible owner, persuaded him to sign a new long-term contract.
But after playing under four different managers since then, with Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche all leaving the City Ground ahead of Vitor Pereira’s appointment earlier this month, Gibbs-White remains unsure whether Forest is the best place to try and press his claims for a regular role in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
And that has alerted Spurs to the possibility of trying to lure Marinakis back to the negotiating table once the present campaign draws to a close.
Given Gibbs-White’s status and recently penned agreement, it would take a big money offer to convince the Greek to consider selling one of his club’s most prized assets.
The situation has been further complicated by Marinakis’ claims that Spurs had knowledge of a release clause inserted into the deal which initially took Gibbs-White to the East Midlands from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Manchester United and Chelsea have also been recently linked with a move for Gibbs-White, but sources say Forest, regardless of which division they’re in next season, will stand firm on their €80–85m valuation.
Top Target
But more upheaval or, even worse, being consigned to competing at Championship level given Forest’s precarious grip on their Premier League status, will force the 26-year-old to consider his options. A
And that has put Spurs on notice as they look to recover from what has been a disappointing campaign themselves.
Sources close to Forest last night told SportsBoom that Gibbs-White’s fresh conditions are again likely to stipulate he can speak to a potential suitor if they offer a specific sum.
Although Spurs are without a permanent manager, after sacking Thomas Frank and appointing Igor Tudor on an interim basis, that does not alter their position on Gibbs-White after he was identified as a target by their recruitment department rather than the Dane.
Editor's Insight
Marinakis is holding his €80-85m price on Forest despite the turmoil. That's the same approach bookmakers take using the law of large numbers - the daily variance doesn't affect the long-term odds.
