Hull City will offer club captain Lewie Coyle a new multi-year deal, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The defender’s current contract at the club runs out at the end of the season, but our sources have been told both parties are keen on extending the 30-year-old’s stay on Humberside.
Skipper Coyle joined the club in 2020 and has amassed almost 200 league appearances for the Tigers.
City stalwart Coyle penned his current three-year renewal in 2023 not long after the club triggered the one-year extension inserted into his initial deal.
And sources close to the club have told SportsBoom that history will repeat itself before the end of the season.
After missing the start of the season due to injury, but has played 13 games since his return as the Tigers has put themselves firmly in play-off contention heading into the festive period.
The right-back believes he still has plenty to give at Championship level and Hull bosses will reward his loyalty to the club with another deal.
Coyle is one of a number of players who are out of contract at the end of the season with the club’s hierarchy having work to do to keep the current crop together.
SportsBoom also understands that former Sheffield United duo John Egan and John Lundstram are in line for new deals, with the club currently in discussions with all three players.
Loyal Servant
Coyle came through the ranks at the Leeds United academy and went on to make 15 league appearances for the club.
During his time at Elland Road he went on loans to Harrogate Town and Fleetwood Town, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons on loan before signing for the Lancashire club.
But he stayed at Highbury, where he played 135 times across his stints at the club, for just six months after penning permanent terms.
The move to fellow League One club Hull City made perfect sense for the defender as it allowed him to be closer to his family in Yorkshire.
Coyle starred 28 times as Hull won the third-tier trophy in his first season at the club and was named in the PFA Team of the Year and was named captain ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
