Wolves vs Brentford Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Date: December 20, 2025 Venue: Molineux Stadium Kickoff Time: 17:00 Wolves have hit rock bottom, and everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong. For the visitors, Brentford carries a baseline of solidity and experience, which has served them well to this point. Premier League betting fans can have a real chance to cash in with some eye-catching odds on offer. As both teams enter this fixture, Wolves have struggled to score, build momentum, or assert any consistent identity. Statistically, this is the worst start to a top-flight season with their current record in English history, and they could end up with one of the lowest points totals ever in a Premier League season.

That said, the Bees will likely maintain their disciplined, well-organized structure to take advantage of this situation and capitalize on the opportunity to earn three valuable points to create some room between them and the relegation zone.

Fans will be in full voice as they walk down Waterloo Road optimistic as they enter the Molineux Stadium to witness Wolves take on Brentford in this Premier League fixture on 20 December 2025. Expect a clash between Brentford’s structure and Wolves’ volatility.

Wolves Current Form – LLLLL

It has been a disastrous season for Wolves, and the reality of relegation is becoming increasingly possible. The mood around the club is understandably dark, confidence is fragile, and pressure continues to mount on the shoulders of the players. However, if Rob Edwards can inject renewed energy and patch up their defence, a chance for a miracle turnaround could take place.

The last five games further demonstrate how tough the situation has been and how they have collapsed both defensively and offensively. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last five matches, taking their tally to 16 for the season, and the goal against Arsenal was only their second in six games.

Under their current direction, Wolves will have their sights firmly on the Brentford challenge and will be eager to assert themselves on home turf. Against teams around them and close to the relegation zone, desperation can spur unlikely results, which Edwards will be hoping for, so urgency and improved mentality will be essential to registering a positive result after nine games.

Key Players To Watch

  • Jorgen Strand Larsen: Even though things are not going his way, Larsen excels at receiving the ball with his back to goal, providing an outlet, and linking up play effectively by bringing others into the game. He has sharp movement and a natural instinct for goal, demonstrating calm finishing in the final third.
  • Ladislav Krejci: Krejci’s midfield roots allow him to be very comfortable on the ball, making precise passes while being composed in possession. Despite his excellent ball-playing ability, he provides a strong defensive presence and is adept at winning duels and tackling.
  • Andre: Andre provides balance and control deep from midfield, making him a vital link between defence and attack for his team. His tenacity allows him to intercept passes and win the ball back in dangerous areas. He also has exceptional passing range and game intelligence, making him a constant threat.

Wolves Team News

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (undisclosed) will need to be assessed ahead of this fixture if he is to be available for selection. Marshall Munetsi (calf) has suffered a calf injury and is likely to spend a week or two on the sidelines. Rodrigo Gomes (groin) is only expected to return next year in February 2026 after undergoing successful surgery on his groin injury.

Brentford Current Form – LDLLW

The Bees began the season with very little enthusiasm, having lost key players and, more importantly, after the departure of Thomas Frank. Now entering the halfway mark of the season, they find themselves above the relegation zone but not out of the woods yet. That said, Brentford’s organized structure and defensive discipline have provided the perfect foundation to earn positive results.
Coming into this fixture, Brentford have been put under immense pressure, and results have been hard to come by. Defensive issues saw them lose to Brighton at the Amex, while they lost back-to-back fixtures against Tottenham and Arsenal without scoring a single goal.

Welcoming the unpredictable Leeds to the Gtech last time out was a fiery contest, but the Bees showed signs of much-needed improvement and will now focus on Wolves, especially after the tough EFL exit against Man City. The underdog spirit, organization, and collective effort could see them add a vital three points to their tally.

Key Players To Watch

  • Igor Thiago: Thiago is enjoying life in Brentford colours at the moment and continues to prove his worth. He combines physical presence with technical ability and intelligent movement, while also being a clinical finisher, making him a nightmare for defenders and a perfect fit for the Bees' system.
  • Mikkel Damsgaard: Damsgaard goes under the radar and does not receive the credit he deserves for what he brings to the table. He is a creative, intelligent attacking midfielder with exceptional vision, is press-resistant, and has dribbling skills that allow him to be a game-changer.
  • Dango Ouattara: Ouattara is an exciting, dynamic attacker who brings flair, speed, and the cutting edge that Brentford needs in attack. His explosive pace, direct dribbling, and ability to use both feet put defenders under pressure, allowing him to create chances and put himself in good positions to score goals himself.

Brentford Team News

Fabio Carvalho (knee) and Antoni Milambo (knee) have both been ruled out for the rest of the season due to ACL injuries and will begin the long process on the road to recovery. Josh DaSilva (knee) brings good news as the midfielder has returned to training on the grass after recovering from an ACL injury of his own.

Predicted Line-Up

  1. Wolves: 3-4-3
Johnstone, Mosquera, Agbadou, Toti, Tchatchoua, Andre, Krejci, Wolfe, Arias, Larsen, Hwang

  2. Brentford: 4-2-3-1
Kelleher, Kayode, Collins, van den Berg, Henry, Henderson, Yarmolyuk, Schade, Damsgaard, Ouattara, Thiago

Suggested Bets

Start with a boosted welcome bonus and turn your betting strategy into a chance for serious payouts.

  1. Double Chance (Wolves/Draw): Wolves could surprise Brentford, especially having home ground advantage. 3/4 (1.75) with Betway.

  2. Total Goals (Over 2.5): Both teams have been defensively poor, expect goals to decide the outcome in this fixture. 24/25 (1.96) with Midnite.

  3. Both Teams To Score (Yes): This is an even playing field for both teams, which will see attacking potential from both sides. 81/100 (1.81) with William Hill.

Value Bets

With strategic insights and evaluating both teams ahead of kickoff, check out these value bets to boost your returns.

  1. First Half – First Goal (Wolves). Wolves will likely put Brentford under pressure from the start to take the early advantage. 9/4 (3.25) with Unibet.

  2. Brentford Highest Scoring Half (2nd Half): The Bees will impose themselves during the second half as the game opens up and concentration levels drop. 149/100 (2.49) with William Hill.

  3. First Half – Correct Score (1-1): Both teams have it all to play for in this fixture, which will see both coaches' tactics being put to the test. 6/1 (7.0) with BetMGM.

Prediction: Double Chance (Wolves/Draw)

This is a fixture where position and form go out the window. Wolves will believe they can come away with a surprise result, given they take advantage of playing at home and Brentford’s defensive vulnerabilities. On the other hand, the Bees will likely be cautious and opt for a more calculated approach as they have won just a single game on the road all season.
