West Brom, meanwhile, clinched a vital 2-1 win at home to Oxford to arrest their losing streak and move further away from the danger. The Baggies will be eager to exact revenge over the Sky Blues after a 2-0 defeat in the corresponding fixture last term. Read our full Coventry vs West Brom preview for more details.

Coventry Current Form – WWLWW
Coventry have had the bit between their teeth, and their 3-2 defeat against Wrexham last month, marked their first Championship loss this term.
Frank Lampard’s men have exceeded expectations, and the 25 points they picked up from 11 games represented their best-ever start to a league campaign. Until the Wrexham defeat, Coventry were the only unbeaten team across the top four tiers of English football. In the past four games, Coventry have struck nine times, and their direct approach has paid dividends.
Last season, Coventry ran out 2-0 winners over West Brom, and while they haven’t been obsessed with dominating possession, they have been eking out results. The Baggies will need to be defensively resolute to keep Coventry at bay.
Key Players to Watch
- Brandon Thomas-Asante
Arguably one of the league’s standout players, Brandon Thomas-Asante has fired home 10 goals. He has a decent goal conversion rate (24%), and his dynamism could unlock the West Brom defence. - Haji Wright
A willing runner, Haji Wright is a focal point of the attack, and he is always looking to stretch teams. Although he has often touched the balls less frequently per 90 minutes, he could pull the Baggies apart. - Ephron Mason-Clark
Big players provide big moments, and that applies to Ephron Mason-Clark. Coventry’s perseverance with long throw-ins paid off when Mason-Clark latched onto a flick-on to strike with four minutes remaining against Stoke. He came off injured after scoring, but West Brom will be wary of him.
Coventry Team News
Mason-Clark was stretchered off with a head injury against Stoke, and while he needed stitches, Lampard is confident he will be in line to play against West Brom. Meanwhile, Jack Rudoni (calf), will hope to be included in the matchday squad.
West Brom Current Form – LLDLW
Bar the 2-1 win over Oxford, the Baggies have often struggled going forward. Against Oxford, they hit the target just once from their 15 shots.
They were made to pay for their lack of cutting-edge, but eventually they got over the line. They had endured a four-game winless streak before the victory over Oxford, but that win helped steady the ship.
Ryan Mason has seen some positive moments from his side. While they lost 2-0 away to Coventry last term, his men prevailed 2-0 the season before that, so that will give them some confidence.
Key Players to Watch
- Isaac Price
Backed as a Premier League player in waiting, Isaac Price has been one of West Brom’s brightest sparks, registering five league goals. Thriving in a No.10 role, Price relishes driving at defenders, scoring all types of goals, and he could be a thorn in the Coventry side. - Mikey Johnston
The winger has been a crucial cog for the Baggies. He has carried the ball well, supplied assists, and West Brom should look to build a team around him. - Nathaniel Phillips
It may not have worked out at Liverpool, but Nathaniel Phillips has been compared to Baggies cult hero Gareth McAuley. His consistently high performances since moving to the Hawthorns over the summer could be a shrewd acquisition
West Brom Team News
West Brom’s struggles have transferred onto the treatment table with six players on the sidelines. The game might have come too soon for Jed Wallace and Alex Williams, who are earmarked for a return to action at the end of the month.
Predicted Line-Ups
Coventry: 4-5-1
Rushworth; Dasilva, Thomas, Kitching, Van Ewijk, Grimes, Sakamoto, Mason-Clark, Torp, Wright, Thomas-AsanteWest Brom: 4-5-1
Griffiths; Phillips, Styles, Gilchrist, Taylor, Grant, Johnston, Diakite, Price, Mowatt, Maja
Suggested Bets
Coventry Over 1.5 goals: Coventry have been hard to shake off this season, and they have been rampant at times. Over 1.5 goals is certainly attainable. (39/50 with Unibet)
Coventry to be ahead at half-time: Lampard’s charges have been good frontrunners, and have often out of sight at half-time. The first-half market seems tempting. (5/4 with Quickbet)
Goals in Both Halves (No): While this could be an entertaining game, West Brom have been wasteful, and Coventry could put the game to bed by the end of the first half. (26/25 with Jeffbet)
Value Bets
Brandon Thomas-Asante – Anytime Goalscorer: Given his red-hot form, where he’s scored seven in his past seven Championship outings, you wouldn’t want to bet against Thomas-Asante haunting his former employers. (11/8 with Copybet)
Haji Wright – Anytime Goalscorer: Haji Wright may have scored in a losing cause against West Brom in March 2024, but he could hit the target this weekend in a winning contribution. (11/8 with Fitzdares)
First Half to be Highest Scoring Half: Although their past two matches would suggest otherwise, Coventry have generally been prolific in the first 45 minutes, blowing away teams. The first half could be more productive goals-wise. (2/1 with Midnite)
Prediction: Coventry to Win & Over 1.5 goals
Coventry have been virtually unstoppable this term, and they won’t be worried about the visit of West Brom, whom they beat 2-0 last term. Apart from needing a late strike to see off Stoke, Coventry have hit the Over 1.5 goals line in eight league games prior to that. West Brom have struggled to put away presentable chances, so a home win and Over 1.5 goals has legs to it.
