It’s been a desperately poor start to the season for the home side, who went into this week with just two points from their first 13 league games and nine points from safety at the foot of the table. The sacking of manager Vitor Pereira has not changed much so far, with replacement Rob Edwards losing both of his first two matches in charge before facing Nottingham Forest at home on Wednesday.
Their opponents could come into this game with confidence, having gone unbeaten in their last four away games. They went into this week with just one defeat in their last seven games, ahead of a Thursday night fixture at home to West Ham. However, this Wolves team have caused them problems in the recent past, winning both games between the teams last season.

Wolves Current Form - LLLLL
Wolves’ miserable run of form is made even worse by the fact they went into this week without having scored in any of their last four games. The last game in which they scored was the first game of the last five, when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in a 3-4 home defeat to Chelsea.
Since then, they have conceded nine and scored none. Back-to-back 3-0 defeats in west London to Fulham and Chelsea were followed by a 0-2 home loss to Crystal Palace and a 1-0 away defeat to Aston Villa. They can perhaps take some encouragement from the fact they held Villa for 67 minutes.
Key Players to Watch
- Jorgen Strand Larsen: The Norwegian forward had an impressive first season with the Black Country club, scoring 14 goals, but he has only notched three in 14 so far this term. His only Premier League goal of the season was a penalty against Burnley in late October.
- Sam Johnstone: The goalkeeper began his career at Manchester United. If Wolves are to pick up a first league win, a standout performance from their stopper will likely be necessary.
- Joao Gomes: The Brazilian midfielder has been one of the team’s highest-rated players this season, and has been a solid performer since joining from Flamengo in 2023. He is yet to score his first goal of the season though.
Wolves Team News
Going into the Nottingham Forest game, Wolves had a couple of injury worries, with Ladislav Krejci and Matt Doherty both being doubts for that game. Daniel Bentley and Rodrigo Gomes have longer-term injuries.
Manchester United Current Form – WDDLW
Recent form for United reads as slightly inconsistent, but the overall picture is finally starting to look more positive than it had done previously for boss Ruben Amorim.
Goals at both ends of the pitch have been commonplace in that five-game run, beginning with a 4-2 home win over Brighton and 2-2 draws at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. The sole defeat of the last seven games came in a very disappointing 0-1 home loss to Everton, where United had an extra man for most of the game.
In their last match before Thursday’s fixture at home to West Ham, United came back from behind to secure an impressive 1-2 win at Crystal Palace to leave them in seventh place in the table.
Key Players to Watch
- Matheus Cunha: If he is fit to play, the Brazilian forward will return to his former club, who he left to join United in a £62.5 million deal in the summer. A head injury has kept him out of recent games, but he could potentially be back in contention for Monday night.
- Mason Mount: The attacking midfielder has struggled for fitness and his best form since joining the club in 2023, but he scored the winner in the victory at Crystal Palace, and individual moments of quality are starting to show.
- Bruno Fernandes: United’s midfielder and captain has racked up two goals and five assists in the Premier League this season, and the Portuguese assisted both goals against Crystal Palace.
Manchester United Team News
Aside from Cunha’s potential return, the visitors could also be without centre-back Harry Maguire, who may be back for the West Ham game. Forward Benjamin Sesko is expected to be out for a few weeks.
Predicted Line-Ups
Wolves: 3-4-2-1
Johnstone; Mosquera, Agbadou, Toti Gomes; Tchatchoua, Andre, Joao Gomes, Moller Wolfe; Arias, Bellegarde; Strand Larsen
Manchester United: 3-4-2-1
Lammens; Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Zirkzee
Suggested Bets
Having scoured various bookmakers for the best odds, here are some suggestions for Monday’s game at some of the top football sportsbooks:
Both Teams to Score - No: Wolves had failed to score in each of their last four matches going into the game against Nottingham Forest (Betway 6/5)
Over 3.5 goals: There have been three goals or more in each of United’s last six away league games (William Hill 7/4)
Man United -1 Handicap: United’s away form has been strong recently, and Wolves are so out of form, a win by more than one goal could be likely (BetMGM 23/5)
Value Bets
Draw: Wolves showed some improvement against Aston Villa, and two of United’s last three away league games have ended level (Bet442 11/4)
First Team to Score - Wolves: United have gone behind at some point in each of their last four games (Midnite 6/4)
Manchester United to win and both teams to score: United have scored and conceded in five of their last six games, and are the stronger team based on form (Unibet 47/20)
Prediction: Manchester United to win and both teams to score
The formbook points towards an away win, as it’s too early to say if Edwards has had much of an effect on the home side. With United’s last three away games reading as 2-2 draws at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham and a 1-2 win at Crystal Palace, there could certainly be some joy for Wolves, but their opponents should be too strong.
