In contrast, Bournemouth have fallen out of the European qualification positions after picking up just two points from their last six games, leaving them in 13th going into the weekend. Andoni Iraola’s team can take confidence, however, from the fact that they are unbeaten in their last four matches against their Monday opponents and have not lost to them under Iraola’s stewardship.

Manchester United Current Form - DLWDW

United’s form may read as quite inconsistent, but the general trend shows they are at least in the process of kicking the habit of losing. Just before the international break in November, they snatched a 2-2 draw at Tottenham with a late equaliser.
This was then followed by a surprise 0-1 defeat at home to Everton, where they had an extra man for most of the match. Since then, they have come back from behind to win 1-2 at Crystal Palace, drawn 1-1 at home to West Ham, and won 1-4 at bottom-of-the-table Wolves.

Key Players to Watch

  • Bruno Fernandes: The Portuguese midfielder scored twice and got an assist in the win at Wolves, taking him to four goals and six assists in total in the Premier League this season.
  • Matheus Cunha: Cunha has struggled for goals this season, scoring just once since signing from Wolves in the summer, but he did score against Bournemouth in the Premier League and FA Cup for his former club last season.
  • Mason Mount: The attacking midfielder may finally be starting to show some form after two injury-hit seasons, having scored twice in his last three matches.

Manchester United Team News

There are three main injury worries for the home team at the time of writing. Defender Harry Maguire has been out since the November international break with a thigh injury, while forward Benjamin Sesko is not close to returning from a knee injury. Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt has missed the last two games with a minor knock.

Bournemouth Current Form – LDLLD

Having been second in the table at the end of October, Bournemouth have fallen 11 places in a nightmare run of form.

Their last five began with a 4-0 thrashing at Aston Villa, although they then managed to rescue a 2-2 draw at home to West Ham from 0-2 down. However, they then blew a two-goal lead themselves at Sunderland in a 3-2 defeat before a 0-1 loss at home to Everton. In their last game at home to Chelsea, they played out an easily forgettable 0-0 draw.

It’s been a tough time for the Cherries, albeit they have had a difficult run of fixtures.

Key Players to Watch

  • Antoine Semenyo: The left winger has six Premier League goals and three assists this season. However, he will leave for AFCON with Ghana after this game and could be sold in January.
  • Justin Kluivert: The Dutchman scored in Bournemouth’s 0-3 win at Old Trafford last season, although he has not been able to match last season’s form this campaign, scoring one goal so far.
  • Tyler Adams: Adams will likely be back in midfield after serving a one-match suspension against Chelsea and will be looking to rediscover the strong form he showed earlier in the season.

Bournemouth Team News

As mentioned, Adams will be back from suspension, but fellow midfielder Lewis Cook is serving the last game of a three-match ban. Defender Marcos Senesi will be assessed after going off against Chelsea with a cramp, while centre-back Veljko Milosavljevic is also a doubt. Midfielder Ryan Christie and wide player Ben Doak are longer-term absentees.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Manchester United: 3-4-2-1
Lammens; Mazraoui, Heaven, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Cunha

  2. Bournemouth: 4-2-3-1
Petrovic; Smith, Diakite, Senesi, Truffert; Scott, Adams; Adli, Kluivert, Semenyo; Evanilson

Suggested Bets

Having scoured various bookmakers for the best odds, here are some suggestions for Monday’s game at some of the top football sportsbooks:

  1. Both Teams to Score - Yes: Man United have scored and conceded in seven of their last eight games (Star Sports 8/15)

  2. Man United to win: The home side are starting to put a run of form together, while their opponents have hit the buffers (QuinnBet 4/5)

  3. Bruno Fernandes – Over 1.5 shots on target: Fernandes has had 42 shots in 15 Premier League games so far this season, averaging more than two per game (BetMGM 12/5)

Value Bets

  1. Half-time/Full-time – Draw/Man United: Eight of Man United’s nine goals scored in their last five games have come in the second half, while Bournemouth have not scored a second-half goal in their last three games (Midnite 4/1)

  2. Under 2.5 goals: Only one goal has been scored in both of Bournemouth’s last two matches (Bet442 13/10)

Prediction: Both teams to score - Yes

United’s inconsistency has shown within games, and while they may not be losing as often, they are still leaking goals. Bournemouth may not have scored in their last two, but they do have a strong record of scoring against the Red Devils and have bagged six in their last two visits.
