Meanwhile, Leicester tasted a 2-1 victory on the road away to Norwich in their previous outing, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan James grabbing the late goals to complete the turnaround. The Foxes last faced Stoke in the Championship in 2024, winning both games home and away, 2-0 and 5-0 respectively.

Leicester City Current Form – LLLDW

Leicester’s form has wavered. After relegation from the Premier League last season, Leicester were expected to bounce back up, but things haven’t been easy going for Marti Cifuentes after replacing Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Just two wins in their past eight Championship outings lay bare their problems, and they have scored just 18 times in the league this term. Nevertheless, they have proved more than equal to the task against Stoke, recording shutouts in each of their past three clashes.

The recent head-to-head meetings have fallen in Leicester’s favour, and this is reflected in the odds supplied by the English National League bookmakers. However, the Foxes will need to step things up if they are going to clinch a win against Stoke.

Key Players to Watch

  • Abdul Fatawu
Where would Leicester be without Abdul Fatawu? Apart from his individual brilliance and excellent dribbling, the Ghanaian midfielder has shown an eye for goal, scoring a couple of long-range screamers. He is a combative style of player, and he screens the back four well.
  • Jordan James
An exciting talent, Jordan James has made an impression during his loan spell. He’s a great box-to-box midfielder, and he doesn’t shirk the defensive duties either. Expect him to give the Stoke back four a tough time.
  • Jannik Vestergaard
A reliable defensive presence, Jannik Vestergaard has played every minute of Leicester’s Championship campaign. Few players have carried the ball further, and he’s a monster in the air. Stoke will have to be canny if they are going to unsettle the Dane.

Leicester Team News

Ben Nelson (ankle) and Caleb Okoli (shoulder) were substituted during the win over Norwich, and so they are currently doubtful.

Meanwhile, Cifuentes will be sweating on Jakub Stolarczyk (groin) after he sat out the victory over the Canaries, so he could be touch-and-go.

Stoke City Current Form – LWWWL

Stoke may have wobbled against Millwall, where they crashed to a 2-0 defeat, but they followed that up with three wins on the bounce, and there will inevitably be peaks and troughs.

Let’s not forget this has been Stoke’s best start to a second-tier season since 1978, so that is impressive. They have performed better at home, but they need to get something from Leicester with tough games against Charlton and Hull on the horizon.

The last time Stoke beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium was in 2015 when both sides were in the Premier League, so they will want to get that monkey off their back.

Key Players to Watch

  • Divin Mubama
Despite a barren spell in front of goal, Divin Mubama produced a statement performance with a stunning hat-trick against Bristol City. He looked razor sharp against the Robins, and Leicester will need to be on guard.
  • Lewis Baker
After being recalled from a loan spell at Blackburn, Lewis Baker has shown his versatility, operating in an advanced role as well as a deep-lying midfielder, and he had three goal involvements in the 3-0 win over Oxford. He’s one to pay attention to.
  • Sorba Thomas
Since his summer arrival, Sorba Thomas hasn’t missed a minute of Championship football for the Potters. He won the club’s Player of the Month award for the second time in October, and he has become a fan favourite.

Stoke Team News

Bosun Lawal was left out of the Republic of Ireland squad during the international break, but it is hoped he will be back in time to face Leicester. Mark Robins doesn’t have any other fresh injury worries.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Leicester: 3-5-1-1
Begovic; Pereira, Vestergaard, Kristiansen, Winks, Fatawu, James, Skipp, Mavididi, Ayew; Daka

  2. Stoke: 4-2-3-1
Johansson; Tchamadeu, Phillips, Wilmot, Creswell; Pearson, Baker, Bae, Manhoef, Thomas; Mubama

Suggested Bets

If you relish English National League betting, here are a few wagers you can explore:

  1. Both Teams to Score (BTTS): Goalless draws have been rare, with 2008 the last time Leicester and Stoke cancelled each other out. This could be a tasty match. (81/100 with Monster Sports)

  2. Leicester Most Corners: In four of the past five meetings, Leicester have dominated the corner count, so backing the Foxes to gain more corners could be worthwhile. (12/25 with BetUK)

  3. Over 2.5 goals: In the past three matchups, the Over 2.5 goals line has been hit, so don’t swerve this market. (EVENS with Midnite)

Value Bets

  1. First Team to Score – Stoke: Although Leicester has scored seven unanswered goals against Stoke in the past two meetings, Stoke could race out of the blocks and break the deadlock. (13/10 with Kwiff)

  2. Leicester to win from behind: In 40% of Championship games won by Leicester, they have done so while trailing. This could be worth a punt. (9/1 with Betway)

  3. Abdul Fatawu – Anytime Goalscorer: While he has become accustomed to scoring screamers, Fatawu often rises to the occasion, and he will want to break his goal drought. (29/10 with Leovegas)

Prediction: Leicester to Win and Both Teams to Score

Leicester may not have been hit top stride for large chunks of the season, but they seem to relish facing their Midlands rivals, Stoke. The seven unanswered goals they have scored against Stoke across the past two meetings are telling. Cifuentes’ men will be up for the challenge as they seek to climb the table, and they could dent Stoke’s promotion push. Find more form analysis and derby insights in our tips and predictions.
