Liverpool vs Brighton Preview: Odds, Tips & Prediction
Date: Saturday, December 13 Venue: Anfield Kick-off: 3:00pm GMT Liverpool will host Brighton in what could be a fascinating clash at Anfield on Saturday, December 13. The Reds, who had embarked on a run of nine defeats in their past 12 matches in all competitions, haven’t turned a corner, but they are unbeaten in three Premier League games. Brighton, on the other hand, had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham last weekend, but they have European aspirations, and are just three points adrift of the top four. It’s so tight in the top half of the table, and a victory will be craved by both sides. The Seagulls took out Liverpool 3-2 in a compelling encounter at the AmEx Stadium last time out, but can they add to Arne Slot’s woes? SportsBoom has shared some Liverpool vs Brighton predictions, and tapped into pre-match betting odds from the top football betting sites.

Liverpool Current Form: LLWDD
Despite being unbeaten in their past three league games, there is an air of discontent surrounding Liverpool. Mohamed Salah cut a disgruntled figure as an unused substitute against Leeds, and he gave an explosive interview after the game, suggesting he had been ‘thrown under the bus’ by the club.
While Salah’s long-term future remains uncertain, Liverpool have often imploded. Against Leeds, they surged into a 2-0 lead thanks to a quickfire double from Hugo Ekitike, but defensive errors by Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate saw them throw away their advantage, and they had to settle for a point.
There is still some disconnect at Liverpool, and while the title appears to be beyond them, a top-four finish is attainable, provided they find some consistency.
Key Players to Watch
- Hugo Ekitike
After an impressive start to the season, things slowed down a bit for Hugo Ekitike. However, the Frenchman was razor sharp against Leeds, taking both goals well, and he’s netted six times in the league. Brighton will need to cut off the supply to him. - Dominik Szoboszlai
Every time we’ve watched him play, he has caught the eye. He likes to dictate the tempo, and he’s not afraid to shoot either. Brighton can’t afford to let him get into his rhythm early on. - Cody Gakpo
Cody Gakpo likes to drift in from wide areas, and he’s a solid all-rounder. He’s weighed in with seven goal assists, and it takes something to shrug the Dutchman off the ball.
Liverpool Team News
Conor Bradley is ruled out for suspension after picking up a yellow card against Leeds, while Jeremie Frimpong is unavailable as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.
Brighton Current Form – DWWLD
An established Premier League outfit, Brighton are in the mix again among the upper echelons of the table. Fabian Hurzeler’s men are direct and imposing, and they have been productive in attack, netting 25 goals this season.
The Seagulls will have been smarting from their 4-3 defeat away to Aston Villa, and they required a last-minute Georginio Rutter strike to grab a point against the Hammers.
The 3-1 away to Chelsea in September was an undoubted highlight of the season so far, but victories have been hard to come by on the road. Visiting Anfield isn’t easy for opposing teams, and Brighton last won there in February 2021.
Key Players to Watch
- Danny Welbeck
Even though he’s in the autumn of his career, Danny Welbeck has been among the goals, firing home seven in the Premier League. He netted the opener against the Reds last year after just two minutes before Liverpool turned things around, so he’ll be hoping for better this time. - Jan Paul van Hecke
A towering centre-back, Jan Paul van Hecke marshalls the back line well, but he likes to get forward, as shown by his two-goal display in the defeat against Villa. - Yankuba Minteh
Despite not being as productive in front of goal, Yankuba Minteh has a brilliant engine, and he’s great at orchestrating attacks. He will be one to pay close attention to.
Brighton Team News
Stefanos Tzimas is expected to be out long-term with a knee injury, while James Milner and Kaoru Mitoma remain doubts for the Liverpool clash.
Predicted Line-Ups
Premier League bookmakers will have plenty of markets to explore, and we’ve revealed some football betting tips:
Liverpool (4-2-3-1)
Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai, MacAllister, Gakpo, Ekitike
Brighton (4-2-3-1)
Verbruggen, Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper, Baleba, Gomez, Minteh, Rutter, Kadioglu, Welbeck
Suggested Bets
Both Teams to Score: Matches between Liverpool and Brighton have been vibrant, and both sides have netted in each of their past five league encounters. This seems a worthwhile wager. (8/15 with QuinnBet)
Over 7.5 corners: Set pieces could be a route to goal for Brighton. They are third in the list of most corners awarded this term (80). Two of the past three clashes have seen the Over 7.5 corners hit, and we’re swayed by it. (1/10 with Bzeebet)
Time of Last Goal (76th-90th minute): Brighton and Liverpool have netted 22 goals between them in the last 15 minutes, suggesting they can be strong finishers. This line could be worth gravitating towards. (10/11 with Betway)
Value Bets
Anytime Goalscorer – Hugo Ekitike: Ekitike was electrifying with his two-goal salvo against Leeds, so Brighton have been warned. He could find the target this weekend. (13/10 with Unibet)
First Team to Score – Brighton: The Seagulls have started brightly against Liverpool in recent meetings, taking the lead in two of the previous three clashes. They could breaking the deadlock once again. (13/8 with 10bet)
Anytime Assist – Yankuba Minteh: Minteh has been highly creative this term, supplying four assists. Given Liverpool’s vulnerability, he could unlock their defence. (16/5 with BetMGM)
Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score
Brighton have caused Liverpool problems in recent seasons, and while their last couple of results were frustrating, they are above the Reds in the table. You just can’t seem to trust Slot’s men, who continue leaking goals at an alarming rate, and Anfield has been far from a fortress. This is a tough game to call, but it is a matchup that has been laden with goals, so perhaps plenty of thills and spills. A draw and BTTS could be tempting.
