West Ham are ready to offer Jamie Vardy another season in the Premier League, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

But our sources have learnt Celtic are now ready to make a move for the former England and Leicester City hitman, who is now a free agent after leaving the Foxes this summer.

The Hammers are hungry to snap up the veteran striker ahead of the start of the new Premier League season next month.

Boss Graham Potter is understood to be a big admirer of Vardy and would add a player of his calibre to his squad.

He sees Vardy as an impact substitute and his experience at the top-level a huge asset if the East London club can secure his prized signature.

However, Vardy’s former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has been weighing up a move to sign the 38-year-old striker.

And SportsBoom understand the Hoops are also close to pouncing with a deal to lure the seven-cap international to the Scottish Premiership this season.

WANTED MAN

Vardy has been linked to a string of clubs since his 13-year stay with Leicester came to an end in June.

Birmingham are the latest club to be linked to the former Premier League winner, while Manchester United and Wrexham are just two of the club’s Vardy has been rumoured to be wanted by.

But the Hammers are close to trying to tempt the proven goal scorer with another season in the top-flight.

Vardy scored 200 goals in 500 appearances for the Foxes and enjoyed ten seasons in the Premier League with the club.

He twice helped Leicester win promotion to the Premier League and famously won the league title in the 2015-16 season.

Vardy also won the FA Cup and Community Shield with Leicester and the Championship title twice during memorable promotion campaigns in 2013-14 and 2023-24.
