Exclusive: Hull and Millwall Interested in Unsettled Blackburn Fullback Callum Brittain

Hull City and Millwall express interest in signing Blackburn Rovers' unsettled defender Callum Brittain. The experienced right-back refused to play in a recent friendly and wants to leave after three seasons. Derby County has made offers, but Rovers are looking for £3.5-4 million. Brittain has traveled to Spain with Blackburn for pre-season, but they haven't given up hope of keeping him. His experience in the Championship is a draw for other clubs.

Hull City and Millwall have joined the race to sign unsettled Blackburn Rovers defender Callum Brittain, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal. For fans looking to make the most of the football season, check out our guide to the best signup bonus sports betting offers and get started today.

Brittain still has a year left to run on his contract with Rovers, but the experienced 27-year-old right-back refused to play for the club in a pre-season friendly with Accrington Stanley earlier this month, and it is understood he wants to leave after three seasons with the club.

Brittain’s refusal to play angered Rovers boss Valerian Ismael, who was left blindsided by the defender’s decision not to play. Derby County have reportedly made two offers for the player, while Middlesbrough had an offer turned down earlier this month.

But the Rams’ second offer is closer to the amount Rovers are looking for as they look to cash in Brittain in the final year of his current four-year deal.

However, the Tigers and Lions are confident then have enough pulling power to tear Brittain away from Lancashire.

Centre-back Danny Batth and midfielder Andreas Weimann have already left Ewood Park for Pride Park, but the question remains whether Rovers would sell a third player to the same rival Championship side.

A fee of around £3million has been muted for Rovers to sell, but our sources have learnt that a fee of £4million is nearer the mark the Lancashire club are looking for.

    SPANISH CAMP

Brittain has however now travelled to Spain with Rovers for their pre-season training camp ahead of the start of the new Championship campaign.

Rovers are away to West Brom in their opening match on Saturday 9th August, followed by an EFL Cup fixture at home to League One Bradford City three days later. And Rovers haven’t given up hope of holding on to Brittain, who has played 113 times for the club across the last three seasons.

Brittain was a mainstay of a Rovers’ side which finished seventh last season and frustratingly missed out on a place in the play-offs.

The former MK Dons and Barnsley has played a total of 180 games in the Championship his experience in the second tier is a big draw factor for rival clubs.

Rovers have made three signings so far in the summer transfer window with the arrival of midfielders Sidnei Tavares and Dion De Neve, as well as centre-back Sean McLoughlin.

Untested right-back Ryan Alebiosu has also joined, but SportsBoom understands Ismael is looking for an experienced defender to occupy that role.
