Portsmouth and Rangers are both interested in signing West Brom winger Grady Diangana, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The 27-year-old was released by the Baggies at the end of last month after six years at the Hawthorns.
And our sources have learnt that both Pompey and the Gers are keen to snap the highly-rated playmaker on a free transfer.
DR Congo midfielder Diangana helped West Brom win promotion to the Premier League in 2020.
But the club decided not to offer the former West Ham ace a new contract and released him alongside long-serving players Jonathan Swift and Semi Ajayi when their deals expired.
Last season Diangana played 34 league games for the Baggies and has been a regular in the team ever since the club won promotion back to the top-flight.
In all he played 162 league games for the club across those six seasons in the West Midlands, with 18 goals in 171 club appearances.
Now Pompey boss John Mousinho is hopeful of tempting Diangana to Fratton Park ahead of their second season back in the Championship.
BIG ADMIRER
New Rangers boss Russell Martin is also understood to be a big admirer of the player, capped eight times by his country.
Diangana started his career with the Hammers having come through their Upton Park academy system.
He played 17 times in the Premier League and also represented England at both Under-20 and U21 level, before switching allegiance to DR Congo in 2023 so he could play senior international football.
Diangana was believed to be on £20,000 a week at the Hawthorns, with some fans surprised the club didn’t retain his services.
But his vast Championship experience is believed to be one of the main reasons why Pompey manager Mousinho is keen to sign him.
Diangana has previously been linked with Premier League sides Wolves and Leeds United, but there were never any official offers for him prior to his contract ending.
