Plymouth Argyle are weighing up the prospect of signing Isaac Hutchinson this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The midfielder is currently lighting up League Two whilst on loan at Cheltenham Town.

Hutchinson became the first player to score for the club in five successive Football League matches since Julian Alsop almost 25 years ago as he continued his stunning form in front of goal with a strike at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.

Still aged only 25, Hutchinson has plenty of promise which looks destined to be unlocked at a higher level next season.

Argyle have propelled themselves into League One play-off contention with a fine run of recent results, with Tom Cleverley’s charges winning five of their last six to move themselves three points shy of the top six.

It is understood the Pilgrims’ recruitment team have been tasked with drawing up two separate lists of targets dependant on whether or not they get promoted back to the Championship this term.

And Hutchinson is one player who has emerged as a potential target this summer.

Our sources have been told the player’s performances have caught the eye of a number of League One suitors.

In other news, MLS sides Toronto FC and CF Montréal are reportedly keeping tabs on Plymouth Argyle forward Aribim Pepple, with both clubs weighing up potential summer moves for the young striker.

Robins' Ace Ready To Fly The Nest

Cheltenham boss Steve Cotterill, who returned to the club he took from the Conference to Division Two at the start of the century earlier this term, has steered the Robins away from danger and is desperate to have Hutchinson among the ranks next term.

But it is understood Cottterill is resigned to the fact it is highly unlikely.

Hutchinson, an academy product at Brighton and Hove Albion, joined the club on loan from Bristol Rovers, where he is contracted until 2027 with a club option of a further year, before being recalled by new Gas boss Steve Evans earlier in January.

But the player got his wish to see out the season at Waddon Road and returned on loan in February.
