Bristol City captain Jason Knight is once again attracting interest from the Premier League, SportsBoom can reveal.
The Robins’ skipper was linked with a summer move to the likes of Everton, Bournemouth and Fulham at the end of last season.
That interest came after his stellar season in the City midfield during his first term as captain, where he led the club to the Championship play-offs for the first time in 17 years.
Ultimately, the Robins failed to clinch their long-awaited chance at Premier League promotion and a bid for the 25-year-old also didn’t come to fruition.
West Ham United, Leeds United and Everton are all closely monitoring his situation as we head towards the closing stages of the campaign, whilst City are desperate to tie him down to a new deal.
The Republic of Ireland international will only have a year left on his contract come the end of the season and that will understandably tempt suitors to come calling this summer.
The club have suffered big blows in terms of departures in recent seasons with Tommy Conway to Middlesbrough, Taylor Gardner-Hickman to Birmingham City as well as Anis Mehmeti and Zak Vyner moving to Ipswich Town and Wrexham respectively during the recent winter window.
Next Step
Knight has been open about his ambition to play in the Premier League in the past.
He said: “I want to be ambitious. I want to play in the top division.”
“But I'm relaxed, if it's now or in the future, that will be. I've just got to keep performing well to get to that point.”
Knight is an experienced operator at Championship level having played over 200 times at the level and is ready for the step up.
Last season, he scooped a hat-trick of gongs at the club’s End of Season Awards as he won; Players’ Player, Supporters’ Player and Former Players’ Association Player of the Year.
Earlier this month, the club singed his younger brother Rhys from Irish side Bray Wanderers.
