Aston Villa have thrown their hat into the ring for Harry Wilson as the race for one of the Premier League's hottest free agents reaches a boiling point, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Fulham winger is emerging as one of the most sought-after players on the market, with Villa joining Brentford and Leeds United in the battle to land the Wales star when his contract expires next week.
And the chase could become even more fierce.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both understood to be keeping tabs on Wilson's situation, while Fulham have all but accepted that hopes of tying him down to a new deal are fading fast.
That has left the door wide open for a transfer tug-of-war.
Wilson, 29, has spent the last four seasons establishing himself as a proven Premier League performer at Craven Cottage after initially joining Fulham on loan from Liverpool in the 2021-22 campaign.
ATTACKING THREAT
The move was later made permanent, and he has gone on to score 32 goals in 166 league appearances for the Cottagers, becoming one of the club's most consistent attacking threats.
His displays helped Fulham continue to punch above their weight in the top flight last season and further enhanced his growing reputation around the Premier League.
Now clubs are queuing up for his signature.
Villa boss Unai Emery is keen to add further quality and experience to his attacking ranks, and Wilson's availability on a free transfer makes him an increasingly attractive proposition.
The former Liverpool academy graduate has enjoyed an impressive career since breaking through at Anfield, before playing for Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth and Cardiff City before a move to Craven Cottage.
VERSATILITY
His blend of creativity, versatility and top-flight know-how has earned him widespread respect throughout the game.
Wilson has also been a standout performer for Wales, winning 69 caps and scoring 17 international goals.
He remains a key figure for his country and one of the most experienced players in the national team set-up.
With his contract entering its final days, speculation over Wilson's future is intensifying by the hour.
Everton, Leeds, and now Aston Villa are all firmly in the mix, while United and Spurs continue to watch developments from afar.
One thing is certain: Wilson will not be short of options.
And as the countdown to free agency continues, the scramble for the Welsh winger is reaching fever pitch.
Editor's Insight
Wilson looks set for a proper Premier League scrap, but Villa feel like the most logical landing spot given Emery’s need for depth and creativity out wide. Brentford are well-run and tempting, while Spurs and United interest looks more opportunistic than concrete right now. If there’s a betting angle here, Villa would just about edge it as the early value pick in a tight free-agent market.
