Newcastle United remains aware of the interest that Sandro Tonali generated in the transfer market.
SportsBoom can exclusively reveal that the Magpies are open to selling the Italian midfielder but only if the right offer lands on their desk.
Perrone Ranks High on Shortlist
SportsBoom has been told that Maximo Perrone ranks high on the shortlist of Newcastle.
The Argentinian midfielder displayed a highly successful performance in Italy during the 2025 / 2026 season.
The game reading capacity, his ball control and his contribution to defence attracted the attention of the technical staff of Newcastle. The club views this profile as suitable to fill the vacancy that Tonali would leave behind.
Ligue 1 Star Attracts Scouting Attention
The list does not end here.
According to sources close to SportsBoom, the dynamic midfielder of Monaco, Lamine Camara, also sits on the radar of Newcastle.
The Senegalese player sustained his breakthrough in Ligue 1 on the European stage as well. His high-tempo pressing game and ball-winning statistics fit the system of Eddie Howe exactly.
Thuram Remains a Concrete Option
The third name is Khephren Thuram.
The French midfielder has long featured on the agenda of big clubs with his physical superiority and the danger he carries to the forward region.
Newcastle also evaluates Thuram among alternative options. The player has also been heavily linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, as they look to replace Man City-bound England international Elliot Anderson.
SportsBoom has been told that the Thuram option remains in the warm-up stage for now, but the interest of the club is concrete.
Waiting for the Right Valuation
As of now, Newcastle has not made a clear decision. They do not want to pull the trigger on a midfield transfer before the right figure arrives for Tonali. The club has not entered hot pursuit mode yet, but they could accelerate at any moment.
On the side of Tonali, the picture is different.
The Italian player captured a consistent breakthrough under the Newcastle shirt. The interest in him in the market remains alive, and the club knows this. They possess a reason to switch to a stubborn seller position. If Arsenal were to come calling, Tonali is also believed to want to jump at the chance to represent the reigning Premier League champions.
Editor's Insight
Newcastle are clearly planning for all outcomes, but Perrone feels the most realistic fit given his profile and development path already proven in Europe. Camara is the high-upside option, while Thuram looks the most expensive and complicated.
