Exclusive: Abdoulaye Kamara Set for Pompey Exit as France Move Beckons

Abdoulaye Kamara is looking to return to France this summer after a disappointing debut season at Portsmouth. The club is willing to take a hit on the fee, with interest from French second-tier clubs. Kamara showed promise initially but struggled to make an impact under boss John Mousinho. Abdoulaye Kamara wants to return to France this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The youngster’s England dream has turned into a nightmare at Portsmouth.

Kamara penned a four-year deal at Fratton Park last season, but sadly flopped during his debut season on the south coast.

And the 20-year-old has been told he is free to find another club, with the player understood to want to return to the continent.

Pompey are willing to take a hit on the fee, believed to be in the £800,000 region, just a year after signing the Guinean young gun.

It is believed a number of clubs in the French second tier have expressed an interest in the player.

From Europe's Elite

Kamara joined the club last summer as an exciting prospect having a footballing CV which boasts European giants Paris St Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

The player showed signs of his potential during an exciting debut cameo off the bench against Sunderland.

But he went on to make just six appearances for the south coast club, and only one start which came in the FA Cup. The was not included in another Pompey squad after the defeat.

Boss John Mousinho said: “I have always acknowledged that there’s plenty of blame I will take for that and sometimes these things just don’t work out.”

“Sometimes things just don’t work out, for whatever reason, and a lot of that is on myself and the way we changed the playing style towards the end of last season."

"We probably recruited him for a certain role which we didn't end up using.”

Kamara has split his summer with training with the squad and spending time with his family in Paris and is desperate to find a club in the county.
