Luton Town are expected to reignite their interest in Jack Diamond in the summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Town saw a late £1million bid rebuffed by Stockport County on deadline day.

It is understood the bid met the Hatters’ valuation of the player, but County did not have enough time to secure a replacement and as a result backed out of the deal.

Sources close to the club have said Luton are determined to resurrect the move come the end of the season, at which time Diamond will only have a year left on his current deal.

Diamond has scored six goals in all competitions for Dave Challinor’s promotion contenders so far this season, but has found himself starring off the bench in recent weeks.

The winger is highly thought of at Kenilworth Road with Jack Wilshire turning his attention to summer targets now the winter window has slammed shut.

It is understood that a number of fellow third-tier clubs have been alerted to Diamond’s potential availability in the summer.

Luton also missed out on a potential reunion with Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee, who instead opted to join Doncaster Rovers after being offered guaranteed first-team minutes.

Wanted Man

The 26-year-old started his career at Sunderland and had three separate loan spells at Harrogate Town.

He was part of the club’s famous promotion to the Football League in the 2019/20 campaign and scored 13 league goals during the club’s first season in League Two.

The following year he went on loan to Lincoln City in League One and bagged six goals in 31 league games.

Following his release by the Black Cats in 2024, Diamond penned a three-year deal with ambitious Stockport.

Last season, he scored five league goals as the Hatters agonisingly missed out on back-to-back promotions in the play-offs.

Diamond has already matched that tally this term as Challinor’s charges have put themselves in early promotion contention.
