Millwall and Blackburn will test Sheffield Wednesday’s resolve not to sell in demand Bailey Cadamarteri before tonight's deadline, SportsBoom can reveal.

Still only 21, the Yorkshire born, Jamaican international is wanted by both of Wednesday’s Championship rivals.

It is understood both clubs will improve their bids today after seeing offers turned down for the highly-wanted youngster.

The son of one-time Everton prodigy, Danny Cadamarteri has a contract at Hillsborough until 2028, ensuring the Owls will receive decent money for the ex-Academy youngster.

But Wednesday prop up the Championship and are destined for a return to League One, less than three years after a dramatic play-off final win. And the arrival of Jerry Yates on loan from Luton might soften the blow if they let Cadamarteri go.

Millwall are keen to strengthen their squad to keep them in contention for a play-off place, with the board backing Alex Neil's promotion push this winter.

Blackburn face the prospect of a return to League One for the first time since 2018.

They desperately need a player to improve their goal scoring threat. Rovers have had a couple of bids rejected for Cadamarteri who, despite the attention, has netted only twice this term.

The Owls could also lose Svante Ingelsson, with Portsmouth leading the chase after Sheffield Wednesday were forced to put the 27-year-old midfielder up for sale due to unpaid debts.

Wednesday Holding Firm

Millwall’s form is a seemingly more appetising prospect than another relegation dogfight though Blackburn represents less upheaval in his personal life.

It could cost upto £1 million to snare the Wednesday favourite who has no shortage of admirers outside the Premier League.

Charlton and Swansea are understood to have had him on their radar. While Wycombe and Luton in League One have been keen.

Millwall are involved in a double raid on Wednesday with strong interest in Svante Ingelsson. They have already had one bid rejected as have Portsmouth.

Derby County is a third club impressed by the 27-year-old former Udinese and Hansa Rostock playmaker who moved to the South Yorkshire club in 2024.
