Leeds United will reignite their summer pursuit of Callum Wilson if he leaves West Ham United, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Daniel Farke is in the market for another striker this month to provide cover and competition for the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Wilson is in the process of cancelling his contract at the Hammers after falling down the pecking order in east London.

Joel Piroe is set to leave Elland Road, with Championship contenders Middlesbrough keen on the out-of-favour hitman, but only if the Whites can sign another attacker.

Leeds are expecting to recoup around £14m for Piroe, a deal which would significantly ease their PSR constraintsand leave the Whites well placed to pursue Wilson on a free transfer, with the striker open to accepting a reduced weekly wage.

The former England international eventually signed a one-year deal with the Hammers and has scored four goals in 17 league appearances this term, but only eight of those have been from the start.

Wilson has been left out of boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s last two matchday squads having fallen behind new recruits Taty Castellanos and Pablo.

It is expected Wilson will once again be a free agent early next week, allowing him to sign for a new club.

Who Will Win Wilson Race?

But Leeds will face stiff competition to sign the 33-year-old.

It is reported that Celtic have already enquired about the striker with interim boss Martin O’Neill admitting signing a marksman was one of his priorities this window.

Parkhead could prove an attractive proposition for Wilson, who in the summer insisted he wanted to remain in the Premier League.

Leicester City have also been linked with a move for Wilson and, in an ironic twist, are simultaneously exploring a creative loan-with-an-option-to-buy deal for Joël Piroe, which could further shape the striker carousel involving all parties.

Everton are ready to offer Wilson the chance to stay in the top tier of English football and have endured goal woes of their own.

There are also a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia willing to offer Wilson a payday to move abroad, which could appeal at this stage of his career after his West Ham nightmare.
