Elliot Watt is being targeted by Celtic, Rangers, and Hearts after impressing in the Scottish Premiership. The midfielder won Player of the Month for December and is on the radar of clubs looking to strengthen this transfer window. Motherwell is reportedly looking for a decent fee for the player they signed for free in June. Hearts are aiming for their first league title since 1960 and are keen to add quality to their squad.

Elliot Watt has emerged as a transfer target for Scottish trio Celtic, Rangers and league leaders Hearts, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The 25-year-old has impressed the big three with his performances in the Scottish Premiership this term and our sources have been told he has been spoken about at all three clubs this month.

Watt made it a December double for fourth-placed Motherwell as he scooped the Player of the Month Award after Jens Berthel Askou pocketed the manager prize.

The former Scottish U21 international scored three times in five games, most notably during the Steelman’s 2-0 victory over Celtic.

Watt joined the club in the summer from Burton Albion after showcasing his talents for St Johnstone during a loan spell last term despite their relegation.

And that consistent form in the division has caught the eagle eye of Rangers boss Danny Rohl, who is desperate to bolster his squad. Rohl is understood to have put the midfielder high up his recruitment plans this window.

Watt is contracted at Motherwell until 2027 with an option of a further year in the club’s favour and it is understood they would want a decent fee for the player who they signed for free in June.

Hearts are bidding for their first league title since way back in 1960 with Derek McInnes eager to strengthen if possible.

They have already announced the signing of Ugandan international Rogers Mato at the end of the season, but want to add quality more for their title run in. It is unclear whether Celtic's interest remains since going back to Martin O'Neill until the end of the season.

Celtic were also linked with Middlesbrough star Aiden Morris, but that interest is believed to have stemmed from former manager Wilfried Nancy, given their Columbus Crew connection, and has since quietened following his departure.

"Team Effort"

Watt came through the academy at Wolves and played at Carlisle, Bradford, Salford and Burton before returning to Scotland this time last year.

“December was a really successful month for the whole squad,” said Watt after winning the POTM Award.

“To win this award is a real delight, but I can't emphasise enough just how much this is an award for the full squad.”

“The feeling around the full club is a positive one, and it's now our job to keep that feeling going. Together we've achieved a lot, but there's more to come.”
