Having played a key role in Monaco’s 2-1 victory with a goal away at Lyon, Folarin Balogun is experiencing one of the most clinical periods of his career, netting 5 goals in his last 5 Ligue 1 appearances.
For the 24-year-old forward, the summer of 2026 will represent a period for Monaco to either reap the rewards of their significant investment or present the player to the global shop window for a higher valuation.
Current Developments
Balogun’s recent explosion in form has remobilised Premier League clubs.
Having found his feet in Ligue 1 after leaving Arsenal, it is reported that West Ham United and Everton are preparing to take concrete steps for Balogun.
It is noted that West Ham, particularly struggling with finishing issues in their frontline, are admirers of the player’s pace and "poacher" attributes. They would likely only have the financial capacity to pursue Balogun if they secure their Premier League status for next season.
AC Milan from Serie A and RB Leipzig from the Bundesliga have moved Balogun’s status from the "monitoring" phase to "bid preparation."
Clubs interested in Balogun may need to move decisively before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the striker widely expected to lead the line for United States men's national soccer team on home soil. A strong tournament showing would almost certainly elevate his profile on the global stage, significantly driving up both his market value and transfer fee, leaving potential suitors to pay a premium if they delay their approach.
Club Stance
The AS Monaco hierarchy is maintaining a very clear stance regarding Balogun.
Are They Considering a Sale? Monaco views Balogun as an "indispensable" part of the squad. However, due to the club’s financial structure and squad planning, an offer arriving above the player's market value could open the door.
Should Monaco sell Balogun, they plan to fill his spot with young talents.
Additionally, Balogun is under contract with Monaco until June 30, 2028. This long-term agreement grants Monaco absolute dominance in any negotiations.
Valuation and Financial Details
Monaco aims to exceed the approximately €30 million fee they paid to Arsenal in 2023. Given the current scarcity of quality forwards in the market, Monaco is expected to open talks in the €45–€55 million range.
Currently earning approximately £98,000 per week, it is anticipated that Balogun would demand a contract exceeding this figure should he return to the Premier League.
