Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart are closely monitoring a name that has taken centre stage in the summer transfer window.

Everton's young and talented midfielder Tim Iroegbunam has caught the attention of European football.

SportsBoom can exclusively reveal that both Bundesliga giants have officially added the 22-year-old English player to their transfer shortlists and are planning to take concrete steps in the coming weeks.

Everton Long-Term Stance and Stubborn Seller Role

On the Everton front, the picture remains crystal clear. The Toffees have no intention of selling the player.

The club hierarchy views Iroegbunam as an integral part of their long-term plans and has openly embraced the role of a stubborn seller. Facing no financial pressure whatsoever, Everton appears to have closed their doors to half-hearted or speculative approaches.

What makes the situation even more interesting is the player's own attitude.

SportsBoom has been told that Iroegbunam is happy at Everton and is not putting any pressure on the club to secure a departure. The primary reason behind this is his guaranteed game time on the pitch.

At this critical juncture of his career, spending minutes on the field is being prioritised above everything else. Having secured a solid place in Moyes tactical system, the young midfielder has made significant strides both physically and tactically this season.

According to sources close to SportsBoom, Everton are open to re-evaluating their stance if a serious and well structured offer lands on the table. No major hurdles are foreseen regarding personal terms, and no such demand is currently on the player agenda either. Yet, to reach that point, a figure that fully satisfies Everton must first be presented. It is estimated that the valuation set by the Merseyside club will be significantly above general market expectations.

Everton may be even more determined to hold onto Iroegbunam, given they are also expected to fend off growing interest in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who has reportedly attracted attention from Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Bundesliga Intentions

Dortmund's interest in this transfer is certainly no coincidence. The German powerhouse has a long-standing tradition of recruiting dynamic profiles from the Premier League and developing them into elite players.

Iroegbunam's physical resilience, his ability to retain possession under intense pressure, and his forward carries line up perfectly with the footballing identity of the Bundesliga.

Dortmund feel the need to reinforce its squad to remain competitive both domestically and on the European stage next season. Iroegbunam stands out as one of the rare names capable of meeting this tactical requirement.

In addition, Stuttgart enter the frame with a completely different motivation. Following a highly successful 2024/25 campaign, the Bundesliga side has entered an ambitious rebuilding process and requires a specific profile to elevate its midfield quality.

The technical staff has been reviewing Iroegbunam's form with the England youth national team and his development curve at Everton for a long time.

The Academy Background and Future Potential

Iroegbunam's career trajectory goes a long way toward explaining such widespread demand.

Developed in the Aston Villa academy as a player with a solid technical foundation, the young midfielder gained serious momentum following his transition to Everton. His progress in Merseyside has been both consistent and convincing.

His tactical discipline, his capacity to carry the ball across large spaces, and his defensive contribution metrics lift him far above an ordinary profile. Being only 22-years-old, his best footballing years are firmly ahead of him, a reality that explains why clubs like Dortmund and Stuttgart have launched their pursuit.

For the time being, Everton holds all the cards in their hands. The club do not want to sell, and the player is in no rush to leave. However, as the interest from the Bundesliga materialises and official bids are laid out on the table, the situation could shift.

SportsBoom has been told that Dortmund and Stuttgart are planning to establish official contact with Everton at the start of July 2026.

Everton remain in control for now, but Dortmund’s track record of developing young talent could prove a real pull if they formalise their interest. This feels like more than agent noise, and it’s one to keep an eye on in the betting markets if talks progress in July.
