One of the most captivating storylines in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League this season is being written by Keisuke Gotō.
The 20-year-old Japanese forward, currently on loan at Sint-Truidense (STVV) from RSC Anderlecht, has delivered such dominant performances that Europe’s elite clubs are flocking to Belgium.
Standing at 1.91m, the "Towering Forward" offers the perfect blend of physical presence and clinical finishing, making him one of the most talked-about names for the Summer 2026 transfer window.
Anderlecht’s Dilemma and Valuation
Anderlecht secured Goto’s permanent rights in early 2025 for approximately €1 million.
With a contract running until June 2028, Anderlecht is expected to set a floor price in the €15m–€20m range. The club intends to use the proceeds to balance Financial Fair Play (FFP) accounts.
A move to the Premier League or Bundesliga could see Goto’s annual earnings rise to the €1.5m–€2m bracket.
Newcastle, Wolves, and Tottenham
Goto’s aerial dominance and ability to link up play have alerted several English outfits.
Newcastle United are focused on high-potential youth, and they view Goto as a strategic asset. Scouts have reportedly attended his last four matches, giving a "perfect" rating to his physical resilience.
Wolves are seeking to solve their finishing issues, Wolves aim to capitalise on their strong presence in the Japanese market.
Spurs are in the market for a versatile striker with a high work rate. Despite his frame, Goto’s mobility has seen him climb to the top of Tottenham’s summer shortlist.
Chelsea & Brighton: Both clubs maintain surveillance, with a potential bidding war expected to drive the fee higher.
Bundesliga Interest (Frankfurt & Stuttgart)
In Germany, where Japanese players have a storied history of success, Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart are monitoring the situation.
Frankfurt, in particular, views Goto as the solution to their lack of physicality in the final third.
While Anderlecht maintains they have yet to receive a formal bid, his representatives are rumoured to have held preliminary talks in London.
As one of the few Japanese strikers capable of immediate adaptation to the Premier League’s physical tempo, Goto represents a "low-risk, high-reward" investment. Analysts describe him as the "hardest player to defend against" in Belgium right now.
