Bournemouth are keeping tabs on Burnley’s Maxime Estéve as a potential Marcos Senesi replacement this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
Senesi is the last defender standing from the Cherries’ impressive back line from last season after Illia Zabarnyi (Paris St. Germain), Dean Huijsen (Real Madrid) and Milos Kerkez (Liverpool) were sold for over £150million in the summer.
Speculation surrounding Senesi’s future is rife and it is expected the Argentine international will leave the Vitality Stadium at the end of the season.
And that has left Cherries’ bosses preparing for that eventuality and looking for a replacement centre-back.
Our sources have been told Estéve has emerged as a candidate to replace Senesi at the club.
With Burnley expected to get relegated, the Lancashire outfit know the vultures will come calling for their key players.
The Frenchman was part of the Clarets’ watertight defence as they got promoted from the Championship last season.
Scott Parker’s record breakers kept a whopping 30 clean sheets and conceded just 16 goals during their promotion-winning campaign.
Long Deal
The 23-year-old committed his future to the club ahead of their Premier League return as he penned a new five-year contract at Turf Moor amid links with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace.
Speaking about his decision in the summer, he said: “I was fully focused on the club at the moment and I have a big discussion with the gaffer and the owner. They want me in a lot of years, maybe, if it's possible, so I take this choice and I have absolutely no regret. I'm very, very happy here.”
Estéve started his career in his homeland with Ligue 1 side Montpellier.
He made an initial loan move to Burnley whilst they were in the Premier League two seasons ago and played all 46 games, being named in the EFL and PFA Championship Teams of the Season, during their promotion campaign.
