SportsBoom can exclusively reveal that Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has identified Arda Guler as his absolute priority target ahead of the summer transfer window in preparation for the 2026/27 season.

There is serious interest from Stamford Bridge for the young Turkish star of Real Madrid, but a massive obstacle stands in the way of this transfer, as the Real Madrid club has absolutely no intention of letting Guler leave.

Xabi Alonso Tactical Plans for Guler

Having taken the reins at Chelsea, Alonso wants to instil a new identity at Stamford Bridge.

At the centre of this vision lies the requirement for a creative, technical and vertical midfield player.

SportsBoom has been told that Alonso views the profile of Guler as a perfect fit for the type of player he is searching for. The capacity of the Turkish star to find solutions in tight spaces, his left foot superiority and his free kick quality fit precisely into the offensive midfield profile in the mind of Alonso.

Alonso views Guler not merely as a transfer target but as a cornerstone that will shape the structure of Chelsea for the next 5 to 10 years.

For this reason, the club management is prepared to allocate a significant budget for Guler.

According to sources close to SportsBoom, the Premier League club could put an offer close to £100 million on the table for Arda Guler. This figure represents the highest single transfer budget identified by Chelsea for this summer.

It is also believed Real Madrid have shown interest in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill, with any potential development possibly opening the door to a swap deal plus cash arrangement.

Real Madrid Resolute Stubborn Seller Stance

On the Real Madrid front, the picture is extremely clear as Guler is not for sale.

The club management views the young player as an inseparable part of the long-term project of Florentino Perez.

Guler was signed from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 and has proved himself at the Santiago Bernabeu during the intervening period.

Especially his performance increase displayed last season, and his brilliant outings in the Champions League reinforced the faith of the Madrid management in him.

SportsBoom has been told that Real Madrid is not conducting table discussions with any club for the sale of Guler.

The club has also clearly demonstrated that they will not sanction a loan deal for the player either. This attitude continues to remain the biggest wall emerging in front of every club interested in the transfer of Guler.

Arsenal and Liverpool Join the Chasing Pack

Chelsea is not alone in this race.

According to sources close to SportsBoom, Arsenal and Liverpool are also closely monitoring the situation of Arda Guler. Both clubs want to increase their midfield depth, and this interest is fueled by the anticipation that the age, technical capacity and market value of Guler will multiply exponentially in the coming years.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has always looked favourably upon young and highly technical players. Although whether Guler can adapt to the Arsenal system remains a topic of debate, it is known that the interest rests on a concrete foundation.

On the Liverpool front, the search for a creative profile like Guler is clearly felt during the new generation rebuilding process under the new management of Andoni Iraola.

The Stance of Arda Guler and Future Trajectory

So what does Arda Guler think?

SportsBoom can exclusively reveal that the priority of Guler is directed towards continuing to play at Real Madrid.

The player also wants to see what kind of relationship he will establish with the new head coach, Jose Mourinho, following the departure of Arbeloa.

However, it is also a striking development that the representatives of Guler are not closed to preliminary talks with English clubs.

Real Madrid’s stance makes this feel more fantasy than foreseeable business, but Chelsea’s reported £100m valuation shows the level of intent under Alonso. Unless that position softens, this is one for the long-term market watch rather than this summer’s action.
