Having extended his contract with Real Madrid back in 2019 until June 30, 2027, Brahim Díaz has entered one of the most critical junctures of his career.
Although the 26-year-old maintains a "match-winner" profile every time he steps onto the pitch for Madrid, his desire for a guaranteed spot in the starting XI could see him depart the club this summer.
The playmaker feels that at this stage of his career, being a "super sub" is no longer enough to satisfy his professional ambitions or his standing in the national team setup.
Real Madrid’s Strategy: Sale or Stay?
The Real Madrid management and technical staff are extremely satisfied with Brahim’s professionalism and "football IQ".
The Madrid hierarchy is not prioritising a sale. However, the desire to balance the wage bill and generate financial resources for new "Galactico" moves leaves the door ajar.
If the player expresses a desire to leave, the Madrid management will respect that request, recognising his contributions during key title charges. There is an internal understanding that holding a player of his caliber against his will could disrupt the squad's legendary harmony.
Madrid plans to open negotiations for Brahim Díaz in the €40–€45 million range.
According to the strongest leaks from circles close to the club, offers below this figure will not even be considered for negotiation. The board views this price as a fair reflection of his market value and his rare ability to change games in the final 20 minutes.
Interested Clubs and Bid Preparations
Brahim’s versatility on the wings and in the "number 10" role has made him a primary target for giants across three different leagues.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur stand as the most serious candidates for Brahim.
It is claimed that Mikel Arteta is an admirer of his compatriot's technical quality and intends to utilise him as a creative duo alongside Martin Ødegaard to unlock low-block defenses.
Rumours suggest Arsenal is preparing a package including €35 million + bonuses to test Madrid's resolve. Tottenham, meanwhile, views him as the perfect link-man for their high-transition system.
Brentford and Crystal Palace have reportedly made enquiries for the AFCON Golden Boot winner, but sources suggest Díaz sees himself as a player destined for a higher level and is unlikely to leave Real Madrid without the promise of European football.
His former club, AC Milan, is lying in wait to bring Brahim back to the San Siro. The Italian giant has reportedly allocated a budget of around €30 million for this transfer, though they may struggle to compete with the financial muscle of Premier League sides. Milan is relying on the "emotional factor" and Brahim's previous success in Italy to sway his decision.
Rumours also circulate that Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund could funnel funds from potential player sales into a move for Brahim, viewing him as a tactical upgrade for their creative departments.
Financial Details and Wage Expectations
It is known that Brahim earns approximately €7 million annually at Real Madrid.
The player’s expectation from a new club is to become a central pillar of the sporting project and to see his annual salary rise to the €9–€10 million bracket, reflecting his status as an elite European playmaker.
Madrid’s midfield rejuvenation and the crowded attacking rotation have relegated Brahim to the status of a "luxury substitute." The club aims to use the proceeds from a potential Brahim sale for a high-cost reinforcement in the defensive line, specifically targeting a world-class centre back to future-proof the squad.
