Bolton Wanderers are keen to bring Amario Cozier-Duberry back to the Toughsheet Community Stadium and are exploring both a permanent transfer and another season-long loan deal for the Brighton winger, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

The 21-year-old became one of the stars of Bolton's memorable League One promotion-winning campaign last season after arriving on loan in July and quickly establishing himself as a fans' favourite.

Cozier-Duberry made 33 league appearances for the Trotters, scoring eight goals as the Lancashire side secured a memorable return to the Championship.

His outstanding performances earned him a nomination for the EFL League One Player of the Year award and underlined his growing reputation as one of the brightest young talents outside the Premier League.

Bolton are understood to be eager to keep the winger at the club and would be open to either signing him permanently or agreeing on another season-long loan with Brighton, but that depends on the Seagulls.

The Seagulls are weighing up the next stage of the youngster's development, with regular first-team football expected to be a key factor in any decision.

DISASTER

However, Bolton faces competition from West Ham.

The Hammers are believed to be monitoring Cozier-Duberry closely after suffering a disastrous relegation from the Premier League last season.

The East London club are preparing for life back in the Championship and sees the England youth international as a player capable of strengthening their attacking options.

Despite that interest, Bolton remains optimistic they can win the race.

Cozier-Duberry excelled during his spell in Lancashire, settling quickly both on and off the pitch and becoming a key figure in the dressing room.

His pace, direct running and eye for goal made him one of League One's most dangerous attacking threats and a firm favourite among supporters.

The winger began his career in Arsenal's highly regarded Hale End academy before making the move to Brighton in 2024.

West Ham are already laying the groundwork for a Championship “super team” designed to secure an immediate return to the Premier League, with their interest in last season’s Championship top scorer Zan Vipotnik at Swansea underlining their intent to aggressively strengthen this summer.

EXPERIENCE

Before joining Bolton, he spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, gaining valuable senior experience.

He has represented England at numerous youth levels and continues to be viewed as a player with enormous potential.

Brighton remain convinced the London-born winger has a bright future in the game and are keen for him to continue his development with regular football.

At just 21, Cozier-Duberry's best years are widely regarded as still being ahead of him.

Bolton hopes the success he enjoyed during last season's promotion-winning campaign will persuade him that another year at the club, whether on loan or as a permanent signing, is the ideal next step in his career.

Bolton have the feel-good factor, but West Ham’s pull and resources make them the likelier destination if Brighton sanctions a permanent exit. Lean West Ham on this one; the betting market would likely follow suit.
