The occasion is one of pure, raw, unapologetic passion. As the teams emerge, the sound from the Holmesdale Fanatics, Crystal Palace ultras, behind the goal will be a visceral wave of noise, making the small, tight confines of the stadium feel like a genuinely intimidating cauldron. For the Eagles, Selhurst Park has become a fortress where giants have been humbled. Furthermore, Palace have been a real thorn in United’s side, going undefeated across the last four fixtures.

South London will be buzzing with anticipation as the Premier League serves up a fixture dripping with drama, recent history, and a burning desire for a statement victory from both camps.

Crystal Palace Current Form – DLWDW

Crystal Palace, especially at home against a “Big Six” side, usually employ a disciplined low-to-mid block, but with their recent masterclass performances against United, they will likely aim to go toe-to-toe with the Red Devils. Their strategy is clear, and that is to frustrate, press, and counter with ferocity. They focus on being compact, especially in central areas, when out of possession, and neutralize any attacking threats with a well-organized backline. In transition, the Eagles are fearless and have used their counterattacking style as a deadly weapon.

Palace are looking comfortable in fifth place on the league table and are growing stronger as each game goes by. The last five games saw the Eagles share the spoils with Bournemouth, narrowly lose to Arsenal at the Emirates, which is nothing to be frowned upon, followed by a victory over Brentford, another stalemate against Brighton, and a comfortable win over struggling Wolves. Although facing United may seem like a tough challenge, Palace are unbeaten at home in six games, giving them that extra boost of motivation to go all in for the win.

Key Players To Watch

  • Jean-Philippe Mateta: Mateta has taken on the responsibility of spearheading this Palace side and has done so in fine fashion. He is a strong physical striker who imposes himself on defenders and makes powerful runs into dangerous areas. His tenacious, aggressive style has seen him become a prominent figure in the final third and the leading goal scorer for the Eagles.
  • Ismaila Sarr: Sarr is almost unstoppable when running at full speed and taking players on. He offers the Eagles an outlet during quick transitions where he can drive towards the final third, eliminate players with quick link-up plays, and is clinical in front of goal. While Sarr is relentless in attack, he also shows a great amount of defensive work, proving his worth and how valuable he is to his team.
  • Marc Guehi: Guehi is among the best defenders in the Premier League, if not across Europe’s top five leagues. He embodies the modern style defender with his calm persona when under pressure, ability to play out from the back, strength to regain possession in dangerous areas, vision to launch counter-attacks, and is an absolute leader of men.

Crystal Palace Team News

Caleb Kporha (back) is yet to make an appearance this season as he continues to recover from a back injury that has kept him out since pre-season. Cheik Doucoure (knee) is still recovering from a serious knee injury that required surgery and is expected to only return late next month or early next year. Chadi Riad (knee) is still working through his rehabilitation from an ACL injury and will not be rushed back.

Man United Current Form – LDDWW

Manchester United seem to have turned a corner, considering how they have largely underperformed during the last few seasons. They are still navigating their way through this rebuilding phase and trying to regain their identity, but have shown positive signs of moving in the right direction. That said, they focus on patient build-ups where they draw players out of position to create and exploit space. Another avenue of attack they have adopted is through wide overloads on the flanks, using the overlapping runs of their full-backs and the dribbling skills of their wingers to create goal-scoring opportunities.

United have been on a somewhat decent run of form during the last five games, but have still shown uncertainty and a lack of cutting edge. It started with a rival victory over Liverpool, then another convincing win over Brighton, followed by back-to-back draws against Nottingham and Tottenham. Last time out, after an impressive five-game unbeaten run, United were undone by Everton at Old Trafford, a match that saw them lose to 10 men after Idrissa Gueye received a red card in the 13th minute for the Toffees. The Red Devils' struggles continue to outshine their progress, and as they occupy 10th place on the table, a victory here is absolutely crucial.

Key Players To Watch

  • Bryan Mbeumo: Mbeumo has been a breath of fresh air for United. He has come in and injected a fear factor into their attack with the way he drives at opponents, makes intelligent runs, and has shown the proven scoring ability he possesses. His skill to work in tight spaces and vision to put his teammates in on goal add to the impact he has for the Red Devils.
  • Matheus Cunha: Cunha is an all-around exceptional footballer who can play many roles in the team and still maintain high standards. When making bursting runs through midfield, he is unrelenting and one of the best at doing it. He is technically sound, has the Brazilian flair to take players on, and can score goals from various positions.
  • Bruno Fernandes: Fernandes is the glue that holds everything together, despite his antics. He can control and dictate the tempo of the game even when used as a deep-lying midfielder, has exceptional passing range where he can bypass defensive lines with decisive through balls, and often comes up with important goals in times of need.

Man United Team News

Benjamin Sesko (knee) is set to face weeks out on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury against Tottenham. Harry Maguire (hamstring) will need to undergo a late fitness test if he is to be included in the matchday squad. Lisandro Martinez made the matchday squad against Everton after a lengthy period out and could be considered for this match.
