EPL Live Odds

Table toppers Arsenal have been in magnificent form this season, and went into the weekend with a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. Gunners’ fans should fancy their team’s chances, as they have beaten Tottenham in five of their last six meetings, with the other ending in a draw.
The visitors, however, have been much stronger on the road than they have been at home. They went into the weekend in fifth place in the table, but also with the best away record in the Premier League season so far, with four wins, one draw and no defeats.

Arsenal Current Form – WWWWD

Arsenal have seemed primed to end their wait of more than two decades for a Premier League title this season. In their last match, Sunderland’s stoppage-time equaliser ended a run of 10 straight victories in all competitions, and in that run, Mikel Arteta’s team had conceded just one goal.

Arsenal have the best defensive record in the league, with just five goals conceded; the next best defence is Manchester City’s with eight conceded. City are also the only away team to have scored at the Emirates this season. However, injury to centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes during the international break with Brazil could give Tottenham more confidence of scoring on Sunday if he is ruled out.

Key Players to Watch

  • Bukayo Saka: The right-winger is back from injury and picking up form, scoring three times in his last four Arsenal appearances. He also scored for England against Serbia last week.
  • Declan Rice: The £100m midfielder has started to add more attacking returns to his game this Premier League season, notching two goals and two assists in the first 11 games.
  • Eberechi Eze: The attacking midfielder could be a potential match-winner in a tight game, although he has just two Arsenal goals so far.

Arsenal Team News

If Gabriel is out, it adds to a growing injured list for the hosts, who are struggling for depth in attack. Forwards Viktor Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz are all out, as is potential makeshift forward Gabriel Martinelli. Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke are also expected to miss out, while Riccardo Calafiori is a doubt.

Tottenham Current Form – WLLWD

Spurs’ form this season has been unconventional, as they have fared far better on the road than at home. Despite picking up just two points from their last five home league games, they are unbeaten away from home in the league, picking up 13 points from a possible 15.

That would in part explain why their form across the last five games has been a bit of a mixed bag, although one of the defeats came in a Carabao Cup game at Newcastle (2-0) and one of the wins came at home in the UEFA Champions League against FC Copenhagen (4-0). Securing one win in the last four league games is a slight cause for concern.

Key Players to Watch

  • Xavi Simons: The £51m signing has struggled since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer, with no goals and one assist in the Premier League, but this would be the perfect time to make his mark.
  • Cristian Romero: The centre-back came off in the last game against Manchester United, but manager Thomas Frank said this was precautionary while he returns from injury. The Argentine will be integral to his team’s chances.
  • Wilson Odobert: The winger made a key difference when he came off the bench against United, bagging an assist, and Randal Kolo Muani’s injury could lead to him being given a start on Sunday.

Tottenham Team News

Tottenham have battled with injuries all season, and at the time of writing, have 11 players on the injured list. These include front line players Muani, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevksi and Mohammed Kudus (a doubt), which is certainly a worry.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Arsenal (4-2-3-1) Raya; Timber, Saliba, Mosquera, Hincapie; Rice, Zubimendi; Saka, Eze, Trossard; Merino.

  2. Tottenham (4-2-3-1) Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Palhinha, Sarr; Johnson, Simons, Odobert; Richarlison

Suggested Bets

  1. Both Teams to Score - No : Arsenal have conceded just once at home in the Premier League, while Tottenham have conceded just three times away (Midnite 8/11) (Star Sports 3/4)

  2. Arsenal to win to nil: Arsenal have a near immaculate recent record against Tottenham, and even if the game is tight, they are deadly from set pieces (Bet UK 11/10) (Midnite 6/5)

  3. Arsenal to keep a clean sheet: Arsenal conceded just one goal in 10 games before their 2-2 draw at Sunderland (Midnite 10/11) (Star Sports 1/1)

Value Bets

  1. Total goals by Arsenal – Under 1.5 : Arsenal have a depleted front line and the game could well be low-scoring. (Bet UK 11/8) (Star Sports 11/10)

  2. Total goals – Under 2.5: Both teams have several attacking players missing and have strong defensive records (Midnite 11/10) (Bet UK 49/50)

  3. Goal in both halves – No: Tottenham are likely to sit off Arsenal and it could take time for this game to open up, if at all (Star Sports 23/20) (Bet UK 11/10).

Prediction: Total goals – Under 2.5

Everything about this fixture is pointing towards it being low-scoring. Tottenham’s cautious style of football under Frank is better suited to away games, while Arsenal’s defence is notoriously difficult to breach, and both teams have several attacking players out injured.
Arsenal could well prove to be too strong for Tottenham, but unless Tottenham completely run out of steam in the last 20 minutes, it is difficult to see this being a goalfest.
