Brighton have been on a roller-coaster ride in the last five matches. In their visit to Elland Road, Forest were overrun by Leeds, as the Whites were sharper and more aggressive on the day. At home against Wolves, Forest lacked the incisive edge required to turn dominance into goals, highlighting a recurring issue of attacking bluntness. Next was the first leg Europa League clash away in Istanbul against Fenerbahce, a first competitive meeting between the two clubs. 

The return to Nottingham, Liverpool was the next challenge, and their superior quality ensured they had Forest against the ropes.
